^That's a great one. I've actually been meaning to check out some of the guest vocalist's stuff, but I keep forgetting.

My favorite track on "Up" is Darkness, though. That one's just beautiful.

fullgore wrote:Yeah, I don't know how someone can actually label just ONE SONG as the best song ever written. I mean, what would you base it on? When I posted earlier, I just based it on my mood at the time. But I've never heard a single song that excels at EVERYTHING. I mean you can't compare something artsy like Mr. Bungle to something emotional like Terria.

that is why i said "probably silly (more than likely)"

do take some time to peruse in a more proper manner chaps

That's just too difficult.
Off the top of my head...

Dynamics - Dev
Back In Black - AC/DC
Grace - Jeff Buckley
Hard Days Night - The Beatles
Lazy - Deep Purple
Olsen Olsen - Sigur Ros
Your Easy Part - Art of Fighting
Rock Lobster - The B52s
Would? - Alice In Chains
Bastard - Dev
Oliver's Army - Elvis Costello
Who Wants To Live Forever? - Queen
Fight The Power - Public Enemy

I better stop now... Can't decide what Tom Waits or Bob Dylan songs to put... hmmm... I seem to have missed the point of this thread somewhat...

...sorry! :D

If it had to be only one song, then I would have to go back to the beginning. My nascent musical tastes started developing with Pink Floyd, so the greatest song, to me is...

"Goodbye Blue Sky"

Simple, to the point, and it put me on the musical path I enjoy today.

Damn, I forgot The Death Of Music and Bastard by Dev. I am ashamed.
EDIT: Also, Night. Some great lyrics in that song.

.... but why has nobody said Stairway To Heaven? For that reason I change my answer to Led Zeppelin.

And thinking of Wayne's World makes me wanna say Boheniam Rhapsody. I still have ZERO idea how the fuck they came up with that song.
