This album is brilliant. Greatest record of the year undoubtedly. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has now shown himself to be a true genius in the manner of Charles Mingus. This record is far beyond rock, or even prog. This is composer material. This is grand visionary art. I thought Frances the Mute was amazing and now I want to bury it!

Yes...I can't stop listening to this record.....
...or, I could just fuck off.
Personally I think Frances floors Amputechture because Frances is way more ambitious and composed. Amputechture is more their "prog" album (De-loused was their "rock" album to me)

That statement is just plain wrong. Sorry.

I'm gettin more into this album but so far I like the songs on Frances a lot more. Amputechture has this kind of arty techincal noodling thing going but I can't really remember many of the songs once I've heard them. Perhaps the penny will drop soon but....

? ... for me only Tetragrammaton and Day of the Baphomets sound really composed and ambitious.
I still think its a great album, probably 2nd or 3rd best of the year so far... but I don't think they put as much work into as they did for Frances.

The entire record is composed.
Omar didn't even play on most of the material, he wrote out all of the guitar parts (solos included) and gave them to John Frusciante to play so that he could concentrate on the compositions from an outsiders point of view.

What's the dilly-o with Theodore not playing drums for them anymore? His replacement better be really bloody good or there will be some disappointed people around ie me...
Wonder if Frusciante would rather be playing with TMV seeing as though his band's last album was so mediocre.
