SPIKE JONES & his city slickers. Download the 4 CD set "Only for Music Lovers", sit back and laugh away. Best songs: St-St-St-Stella, G.I. Haircut, Popcorn Sack, There's a Fly on My Music, By the Beautiful Sea, Come Josephine in My Flying Machine etc.

Then there's the song Kindred Spirits from Liquid Tension Experiment (LTE) 1 and Biaxident from LTE 2.

Might want to try Dragonforce, they put the smile on my face everytime I hear them.

And PHYSICIST!!!

The song Faith No More - Epic... It's even better when it's accompanied by the video :D

Bob Dylan has some cheery stuff

Enter the Haggis... Fun rock band from Toronto. Nothing special musically IMO. They have an electric bagpipe player. Download the song "Lanigan's Ball" if you want

Ayreon's album "The Human Equation" has a few songs that 'sound' real happy to me. Try the song "Day 11: Love"

You can probably try some power metal, even though a lot of it is super cheesy and really annoys me. I like Gamma Ray, though. Land of the Free is a great album.

I also like the album "Blackout" by The Scorpions... That's the one with the song "No One Like You" which I'm sure you've heard.

Umm... What else... Therion, Tears for Fears, Beach Boys... I agree with a lot of the stuff mentioned in this thread. Especially "Mr Bungle - California". Some of the songs on that album are like a continuous orgasm of melody (Vanity Fair, Retrovertigo).

Thanks everyone. I'll certainly try Mr. Bungle tomorrow, right now I'm way too drunk :D (and the clock is 02.48 in finland)
Btw, I haven't been this happy since Tuska Festival. :D Saw some of my friends today.
Oh and who is this Devin Townsend guy you are all talking about? Never heard of him.

1 song in particular really gets me in a good mood at the mo... "deviate from the form", the second bonus track on Scar Symmetry's pitch black progress.

It's fucking brilliant.

Coheed & Cambria:Good Apollo I'm burning star four, upbeat and progressive happy on the downside sorta stuff
But might not be "metal" enough for the majority
It always puts me in an awesome mood

A lot of the shit mentioned in this thread wasn't metal. Coheed is actually a good recommendation, but man oh man is that guys voice annoying.

When I'm depressed, happy music makes me want to kill someone. Terria does the trick for me.

I just heard these guys. I definitely agree with this one. The male/female vocals compliment each other better than I've heard before in a band (except maybe Lovage).

EDIT: Oops, i meant the New Pornographers
