From now on I'm siding with France (and Germany of course). Both teams to be sniggered at and bashed in the forefront of the championships, and now they are in the top four.

The funny thing in your precious comments you never really speak about football itself, do you ?
I hate this team, I hate this player, I am italian but I am australian so I don't like italy ... etc that's stupid
I like good football games and I support teams that have fun. I don't have 'hatred favourites' because yes, I focus on the game more than your pseudo divergences

At times it can be very hard to set aside any personal preferences that can be based on things non-footbal.
I think the French and Italian star-players behave too arrogant sometimes, therefore I don't hope they'll win. The relation between Germany and The Netherlands has been... shaky for about 60 years now (maybe longer, but people still relate it back to WW2) so I don't hope they'll win. Portugal has Figo and Christiano Ronaldo, two arrogant lazy players that live on reputation. And they kicked The Netherlands out of the tournament, so I don't hope they'll win.

I thought you did not like the Netherland team either ?
Luis Figo was probably one of the best offensive midfield player in the world these last years so I don't think a guy that played for Barcelone, Madrid and Milan just live on reputation. I hope he will be on top against France because he is such an amazing player.

WOW... It seems that Italy is the most hated team here...
I'm italian, but I'm pretty impartial and critic about our national team and I'm the first to be pissed off and disappointed when they play bad or (even worse) they don't play at all, BUT... I really don't understand why a lot of people hates Italy... It's not the only team that didn't show spectacular playing!!
I'm 31 and I've learned through the years that people in the world don't have good feelings about italians... And maybe sometimes they're not so wrong...
Probably we're unpleasant to most of the people... It's not a problem, I'm used to it, but sometimes (like now) I really wonder why. Ok... Someone might say that it's only a game and that's it but every time we play a World Cup, an European Cup or even the Champions League it's the same old story. And sometimes that's a bit annoying.
Said that... I'm ok with all your comments. No problem at all
I just wanted to write something about that after days of "negative" readings about Italy.

Trezeguet crucified Italy at the Euro 2000 and then he played for the Juventus and was welcome as a hero, no harmful feelings for him. He scored more than 100 goals in the scudetto since. Italian teams have always been strong so I think that's probably why there is so much polemic around their games. Sometimes they have luck but I don't think it's fair to say their football is poor because in the end, no matter the competition they are almost always here, they have this experience that makes the difference. Lyon played against Milan in the champions league and they played better for sure, it was blatant, but in the end Milan won and scored in the very last minutes. I was pissed off for sure but I don't hate italians because of this. They deserved to win because the realism is here. Sometimes it works well for your team, sometime it doesn't, simple as that !!!
Australia lost against Italy, thet penalty was unfair but in the end during 90 minutes they had opportunities to score and they did not. If the penalty was offered to Australians, italians would have blamed you etc. Stories like these always belonged to professional football, if you don't understand this then you should stick up with badminton
