Italy-USA was the WORST match that I've ever seen in 31 years (my whole life).
Italy SUCKED, De Rossi is an a**hole (how can you do things like that?) and the assistant referees were BLIND.
I didn't like USA at all. Too much faults.

I've just seen Brazil-Australia... It's a pity. Australia played very very well.

And about Brazil... I don't believe that they are the favourite team for the victory this year...

Brazil have a star-studded lineup and they are the favorites. They haven't played like it yet, though. If you remember the Confederation's Cup last time around, Brazil started off very shaky and then in the final thumped Argentina 4-1. It was probably the best performance I've ever seen by a team in my life.

They're fielding the same squad now, pretty much.

NAH! That record belongs to Gerd Müller! :o

I've seen Korea - France now. And until the 80s minute, it was one of the worst games I've ever seen (with the most bizarre fans I've ever seen; how can someone sing 90 minutes nonstop to such a lousy game :?: ).
And I still have no clue, why France stopped attacking in the second half. I mean, the Koreans played horrible. So they have to blame themselve for loosing two safe points.
But the last 10 minutes then were quite entertaining.

Ghana vs. Brazil... Shit, I was hoping Ghana would do real well in this tournament after that spectacular showing against the czechs, but Brazil is my favorite team so I can't root for Ghana anymore. Oh well.

wow this is gonna be strange, for years, as an Australian of Italian descent I have followed the azzurri with varying results. All these years I've also lent my support to the gallant aussies who today surpassed all my expectations and now face the italians in the next round.

To be honest I'd be happy to see whoever deserves it more go through.

I'm really really happy for Australia!!
The match with Croatia was pretty strange... The referee was probably out of mind!!!

On monday we will see Australia-Italy... I'm italian, so I support Italy, but I would be happy if Australia would go ahead!!

As Mo wrote, I'd be happy to se whoever deserves it more go through!!

P.S.: Italy didn't played well the last match... They won 2-0, but they pretty sucked...

It's funny... the Greek, Croatian and Italian communities kept the football flame burning in Australia for so many years and we'll have played all three countries in the past few weeks. Not only that but we beat Greece, drew with Croatia and we're in the second round with Italia.

So many people with divided loyalties! I'd like to think people would put Australia first, but I also know how strong those ties to the mother countries are. That's a major part of who we are as a country. :D

It's been great to see how good-natured everyone's support has been... a million miles from the dark days of ethnic-based clashes in the old NSL, "wogball", no TV coverage etc. etc. etc.

I bet all Aussies would agree the only real sad note is that Johnny Warren wasn't able to see his dream come true.

Glad the Aussies went through. Got Tim Cahill in my fantasy team so thats good too.

Brazil looked awesome when they went up the gears, unbelievable how comfortable every one of their players is on the ball. Can any Englishmen imagine Jamie Carragher being able to control and pass the ball like their centre/right back can?! They just look so composed.

Good to see Ronaldo on the scoresheet, I hate seeing players a shadow of their former selfs but he is still vastly overweight. Is he really the same guy who used to be so quick and strong and lethal in front of goal. Still got the instinct as he showed but he needs to be fitter.

Who still thinks England can win?

Shit, that Croatia:Australia match was ... my heart at the beginning was with Croatia, call it a Yugoslavian sentiment, but fuck I can't stand that stupid temperament that compels them to run their mouths at the referee until he gives them the red card AND THEN THEY FUCKING SHUT UP! WTF? Shut the fuck up 10 seconds prior and you'll stay in the game, moron! Argh. Plus that idiot's handplay he got away with ... they simply didn't deserve to advance.

Kudos to Aussies, they should beat the meat out of spaghetti bolognese on monday. Go Togo today against France and go Ghana against Brasil ... damn, I want to see some authority humiliated
