They sounded great. Definitely top in the 3 shows I've ever seen.
Now that is ART.

You sure now?

For the record, somethingawful.com is a satirical humour site. Everything they review is scored poorly (for anyone who didn't know this).

10 000 Days is one of the best albums of the year, i think. The packaging is really cool, too.

It's funny how all reviews hating Tool are exactly the same o_O... they're just like some combination of insulting the fans, insulting maynard and insulting the band for being ambitious.

You've met tool fans right?

Most tool fanboys think that Tool is the reincarnation of the Led Zeppelin-style "supergroup", and think that Maynard is the 2nd coming of Jesus. Which pisses Tool off, because one of their primary messages is for people to start thinking for themselves...and yet they have these fanboys who swear their life on whatever Maynard says. Hence all the crazy April-Fools jokes, fake "facts" in interviews, and other funny stuff.

But That's all subjective...my friends give me shit for being a huge Devy fan, and the only thing they really judge him on is his haircut (I'll be damned if they have ever heard a song, DTB, SYL, or other).

fullgore wrote:Just checking. A lot of Tool fans tend to read into the music far far FAR too deep. Maynard's a good musician, he's not the 9th wonder of the world.

Ah, but there you are wrong, sir. MJK is minor deity.

[edit: f*ck. Wish I'd read the rest of the thread before posting this. Now I'm outted as a total fanboy. And wait, you mean Maynard's not a born again Christian now? But, I thought that was what Wings for Marie was about. Man, I'm just confused. I better go read my copy of Lachrymology again.]

Picked up the album a few days back.
Its growing on me, I am not the biggest Tool fan but I like what i hear.

I only own Laterlus and copies of some earlier stuff. Definately a dense sort of album but it pulled me in from the first track.

I still think it's boring. 2/3 of the album is just... I don't know how to put it. There is some sound, but nothing is happening.
