Agreed, but TMV have some moments of insane genius, but sadly they're not really consistent.

That's how I feel, they have some amazing songs, but not amazing albums.

haha someone from another forum pointed this out from the september 2005 toolband.com newsletter

""Now where was I?.. Oh yeah, TOOL!.. I'm not going to reveal my source, Mister Patience, but do you want to know the kind of things that have been going on while this record was being recorded? Okay, first there was the decoy record just to confound all those would-be bootleggers out there. This took, oh, about a year, just because the band members wanted it to sound pretty close to the real thing (so as to be believable), along with equally believable art design.""

If that is all true, then the time and application needed to perform such a ruse borders on the pathological. Surely they must have been having fun doing it...those nutty quasi-existentialist guys.

Yea rofl, but I mean I would probably do something similar if expectations were as high as they are for Tool. I mean you can't write perfect music all the time. :P

I also think its funny that a Tool joke album is still one of my top 25 albums of all time.

talk about fanboy T_T

Well I gotta say; if this is a decoy, then I'll be pretty damn happy to get another dose of the real thing! It's like double goodness!

I would suggest that Tool are smart enough to realize that by having their lackey Blair say that stuff everyone will go "oh, typical of Tool" and immediately presume the leaked real album to be a decoy one.

No one has posted Blair's joke that they needn't even worry about making a decoy themselves as their fans did that for them last time (and it happened this time too, there were two different fakes circulating prior to the real one)

It's a rather ingenious plot, getting the sheep to police themselves, thus removing the need for a sheepdog. Everyone goes telling everyone else that it's a fake until it gets released and everyone goes and buys it to see if it really is a different album.....

The last post is the way I am feeling. I'm a hundred percent certain that this is the real album and I am BLOODY HAPPY WITH THAT but I'm sitting here praying it is a fake so I can have two records for the price of one :D However, the likelihood of Tool giving us a free album is rather negligible....

Pictures of every part of the booklet are floating around tool fan forums... which I have been avoiding since the album leaked. I ran into these on another board I frequent, and posted them around as I think they're a cool enough tease without ruining anything.

My workmate was mentioning how it would be cool if Tool did something like their 'moving cover' for Aenima again...
