Just wondering what you guys like to listen to in order to let off some steam?

While I find City is a great album to put on when you're infuriated, something about DEP's music just works so much better for me. It's very technical and aggressive. And intense.

DEP meddle with time signatures so much that it almost gives the music a disjointed feel at times. I find that this, coupled with the onslaught of drums and guitars (and mediocre screamo vocals), gives a really chaotic feel to the music that makes me want to just... break something.

Anyway... thats my 2 cents. What does everyone else like to listen to when they're angry? List some or name your favorite... whichever you want.

Yeah, meshuggah is great too. Though I would probably say DEI instead of Chaosphere myself...

By the way, I heard Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects the other day.. Sol Niger Within Version 3.33.... Wow, GREAT album. Reminds me of Catch 33 a lot in places. Being released in 1999, I guess that in a way it was a taste of what was to come for Meshuggah.

EDIT: I think I may actually like it better than any Meshuggah

Yeah, it's more colourful than Meshuggah, but they deliberately go for a more stark, cold sound, which I appreciate as well. Sax and synths are fun though. :D

For angry moods, Chaosphere just slams it harder than DEI for my money. Great for aggression!

SO can I buy 3.33 off you?????

Sol Niger is definately my preference over meshuggah (of course, I love meshuggah, but it just tops it)

Both meshuggah and DEP are great badns to blow off some steam with

'97 actually ;)

It's also my favorite album Fredrik has ever done, far superior to any Meshuggah stuff - probably because Morgan Ã…gren has a much jazzier and trickier playing style than Tomas Haake.

Tomas can play like that, but Meshuggah is about different things.

DL the drum clinic mp3 to hear Tomas go hard keeping up his usual nonsense polyrhythms and soloing at the same time over a medley of Meshuggah and Sol Niger Within material.

anything by Anal Nathrakh works fine in that regard...so does City, Myrkskog's Deathmachine as well. Zyklon's World Ov Worms. Sarve's Irradiant.

Meshuggah's Chaosphere is awesome but when I (personally) wanna let off steam I want music that I don't need to concentrate on too much. That record is more something that I listen to when I am in dire need for a mindfuck.

I get times like that too, sometimes it's great to just have that emotional release with absolutely zero thought involved.
