Some people say that english is a dying language, just word after word.

Around here, people are complaining aboot Enlish repressing the Dutch language, quite the opposite...

Bad language doesn't really bother me, usually I understand what everyone means. But maybe that's just my own shitty knowledge of English.
Posts with a lack of catitalization and interpunction are a lot harder to read.

I think, sometimes people with native language use shittier English than foreigners. Probably because they take it more for granted, they put less effort in it. If you have to (somewhat) think about every word you're typing, you won't make as much mistakes and errors because you're less consious (sp?) about what you're doing.

Oh, and I think you made 3 mistakes in your opening post: 'do' had to be 'does', the other two the capitals of English and Finnish.

In Australia we've developed our own fairly unique take on English, in part by cutting out half of the letters of each word. For example, many Aussies pronounce "Australia" as "Straya". It might be because we're lazy. Another theory is that there were so many flies around that opening your mouth in "ye olden days" led to a mouth full of the little buggers. As a consequence, the already laconic early Aussies just decided to speak in grunts. "Come on" becomes "carn", "How are you going?" becomes "aygowun?" "Good day mate" becomes "G'day mate" becomes "Aymate" etc. etc. That must be pretty tough for a newcomer to deal with!

To answer the question, I never find the language skills of non-native English speakers to be annoying or frustrating. Quite the opposite. I think it's amazing how fluently most "foreigners" can speak English.

I have learned to appreciate diversity. The populous at work is 80% asian, 15% hispanic and 5% white.

If I were to have a problem with "bad english" I would have to find another job!

As far as music goes...I hardly notice any language barriers at all! I am very impressed with most of the European bands (Norway, Sweden, Finland Etc.) because they sing English very well. Their native accent is undetectable in most cases!

Damn you foreigners. I can just about speak French (I can have conversations and debates, although it's rife with errors). And you guys can often write English and several other languages with fluency.

well, I guess it's an advantage that we use our keyboards here to communicate. I guess when I actually speak English it's not as good. Here you can re-read what you wrote and delete a word or correct it before you post it....doesn't work the same way when you talk It's about a year ago when I spoke English the last time when I talked to Gene and I must say I'm quite out of practice!!! And before that it has been at least 4 years ago when I spoke to someone in English (that was in school). So yeah, I think many of us would do a much worse job without our keyboards and screens!!!

Why do English speakers suck at other languages?

They don't need to know other languages because almost everyone can speak English today.

I've been wondering how much do bad english irritate people if english is your native language. Can you tell the difference in music? If a foreigner would try to sing in finnish I would propably die laughing
