Im terrified of needles (injections), wasps and heights!

Was hoping i'd grow out of them, but no luck!

Heights, confined spaces and dogs.

The dogs one I understand......fooking huuuuuge demonic Alsatian from hell attacked me when I was 3....I was feeding the ducks. Took a nice chunk out of my hand.

My heights one is a bit weird... Say if im on a plane and look out the window, I feel perfectly safe despite the fact im 5 miles above the surface of the Earth.
I only seem to get it looking over the side of a tall bulilding or on the edge of a cliff etc....

My biggest fear as a kid was something I experienced quite a bit. When I was young, I suffered sleep paralysis a lot. The problem with sleep paralysis isn't that it exists, (we all naturally are "paralyzed" when we sleep, our brain dumps a hormone in our blood to paralyze the muscles a bit to keep us from moving around so much in reaction to our dreams http://www.aufora.org/discuss/messages/6465.html ), but because I am such a light sleeper, I'd frequently wake up and not be able to move. Unfortunately, another problem associated with sleep paralysis is the feeling of being held down by something evil. Well, I always thought it was Satan holding me down, and if I turned to look behind me to see, that I would die and go to hell. (What the hell was my problem? I dunno) One night, I was sick and tired of waking up scared out of my mind, (during these episodes, not only could I not move, but I could never speak above a whisper, so I couldn't call for my parents), so I fought until I could turn around to confront what was holding me down. Turned out to be nothing, I don't remember waking up feeling like that since. I have occasionally woke up unable to move for a little bit, but not afraid. Yeah, I know, I was a weird kid. Well, the weird kid turned into a stranger adult...

I think most people have more problems with the latter....its probably mroe of a balance issue, and on a aplane, you are kind of removed from the fact that you are so high

That scene in Ghostbusters where Dana opens her fridge to find a demon dimension scared the living shit out of me when I was quite young.

I watched it recently and it looked cheesy.

The library scene from the first one did the same thing to me when I was young. It's pretty entertaining now!

I get sleep paralysis episodes myself quite often, just did last night, but I don't really fear it anymore, because I know what it really is.

I forgot to mention bees as well, but I still am afraid of them, because I'm also deathly allergic to bee stings (guaranteed a hospital visit if I get stung)

Another one I forgot that I saw mentioned is heights, which I'm nowhere near afraid of anymore, but other than in an airplane or something like that I used to be very afraid of them.

I think I've mentioned this earlier, but...the hospital corridor scene from Excorcist III...Watched the movie real late in a dark room with some friends (that fell asleep one by one, which in itself was pretty weird). When that fuckin' sheet covered dude appeared I just died. I've never been that frightened ever!

I've only ever had sleep paralysis once, a couple of months ago. It's scary as hell when you don't know about it, especially as your brain's still hal;f asleep and you're not thinking rationally. I thought a ghost was holding me down, fought to turn round then realized no ghost was around. It was only a couple days later that a friend told me about sleep paralysis.

More than anything, it's the not being able to shout/scream that's probably the freakiest part of it. That said, once you know about it it's not scary anymore, but Christ does it make a first impression!

It's the first time I hear about this sleep paralysis thing. Sounds like fun: you want to move but can't! Freaky. I want to experience it too. Once, of course.

You want to experience that kind of terror willingly? The kind of horror I can only imagine compares to that of car crash victims, or worse. Its not good!

Wow, sounds crazy. I'd never even heard of it. I was pretty scared of the dark as a kid, but then I got some glow in the dark stars for my roof and everything was cool again.
