I can't believe I forgot to mention Burst!
Their latest album "Origo" is simply amazing!
They definitely got something uniquely good going for themselves.

I know, the first two albums are a completely different style from the later ones, but I think especially Morningrise is a very good album. You need to be in the mood, and you need to be able to pay full attention to get it, but it's sooo great.

As for Ghost Reveries, it has nothing to do with Roadrunner. I don't like the guitar sound, I don't like Mikaels death vocals, the balance between heavy and mellow music is lost and the songwriting is kinda average for Opeth standards.

But I know, it all comes down to taste. That's why I don't agree with In Flames, SYL and Procupine Tree getting better over time.

Hey, the songwriting on GR is extremely excellent. I feel as though they got better at songwriting. Like you said, it comes down to personal taste. But damn, Mikaels vocals are excellent on the new cd.

No way! Morningrise is an awesome record, Still Life is their best (the best ever) and Ghost Reveries sucks!

Totally agree with you about the first 2 but GR doesnt suck...it's a bit too clean digital for my taste though.

i think that alot of people wouldnt hate GR if opeth didnt sign with roadrunner

Indeed, which is rather odd, seeing as the album was made prior to that and it actually provided in the benefit of probably getting the album out quickly, but hey ho...

Sure are. His death growl has been vastly improved since "Deliverance", I always thought he had a weaker voice on that album(as far as "weak voice" goes for Mikael though ;) )

I couldn't agree more. Also, is it just me or is that Tomas Lindberg's best vocal performance by like 5 miles?

I'm surprised no one mention Enslaved

Isa is a fuckin masterpiece.

Ulver i think has just remained constantly genius and porcupine tree comes down to a matter of taste.

I also agree with the in flames comment. Come Clarity is awesome
Versus Terminus and Vaccum alone make the album worth it
