wel theyre much more influential than youll ever be...

I actually have plans for forming a shadow government that will, in essence, be totalitarian and have complete control over the world's economy, in which case I will make myself ridiculously rich, which will lead me to my purchase of 2 of Saturn's moons and funding a Death-Ray research facility on one of them. Not to say that will make me influential, though.

brilliant...

i have never been the biggest fan of metallica... maybe its the cheesy name and way its written??? dunno... maybe is the cheeseyness of the cheese they all squeeze from their butt cheecks?? okay... I gotta have a smoke...

Kill'em All - did what the title said
Ride the Lightning - we all surely did!
Master of Puppets - ah, pure metal bliss
...And Justice For All - a great comeback after a big loss ("One" - the most popular clip on good _old_ mtv ever)
the "black" album - made metal/rock hit the charts and the kids hard
Load - took me two years to understand it's a ROCK album, not a metal one
Reload - not bad, still I was beyond that sound of Metallica by the time of its release
St.Anger - not my cup of tea

still.... they made many a man and woman see metal and feel metal
the last time I've seen em live (last year) they still kicked ass

let them play, let the release, we'll see ;)

Nicely put Vesper, though I disagree slightly about Load, Reload and St. Anger. I do like the perspective you have on them none the less!

You are spot on for the 1st 5 though!!!!!!

I have an account there and I've done that numerous times and everytime I've always gotten good feedback on it.

what did they say?

Sorry it took so long to get back on this. Each time I got replies like, "Amen to that, brother!" or "Holy crap, that'd be incredible...". Stuff like that. Never got any bad feedback from the idea.

I thought they were quite cozy with Bob Rock?! (who I more than partially blame for their current state)

I have a hard time picturing Dev seeing eye to eye with Lars and James. Not to say they wouldn't but to me it just seems like they are from two totally different worlds and they would clash really, really bad.

I am sure Dev could get along with them just fine but I don't know if they could get along with Dev, plus James is pretty damn picky about his music (I am not faulting him for it) and doesn't like people messing with it. Dev seems like the type - as a producer - to wanna tweak this and change that and experiment just to see what happens. I could see James totally freaking out about it.

Besides, I don't know if even Dev could bring them back.

The damage has been done, and been done for so long that they are too far gone to be saved. IMO

Like I said, they are quite cozy. And because of this I expect their sound to continue evolving into this "rock" style they have grown so fond of. I think the days of the true Metallica are looong gone. But this is no surprise really. I figured this was the case after the black album did so well for them.

Thanks Bob!

I think Load and ReLoad are really cool too. It's just that I think some other band should have made Load and ReLoad, and Metallica should have made a fucking thrash metal record.

You know, I was thinkin Megadeth. I wonder if Mustaine would be open to the idea? I'd love to hear the outcome of a Devin produced Megadeth album.
