It is beyond me how anyone can like Info Dump and not be into Devlab...

i think the beggining of devlab sounds like jim carrey having an epileptic fit whilst wearing a one-man-band suit.... i haven't got hummer but my g/f is getting some not so subtle hints as too my christmas present...

I was also wondering about the Morse code, anyone know Morse? I should learn it, then I could understand the secret message at the start of Jericho episodes. Then again, I am lazy.

I was going to try to listen as I slept, but my ear cans are massive, and restrict my head movement :)

I Listened To It Three Times And I Personally Think That Devlab Is More Interesting To Me. But We Will See How That Turns Out In The Future.

Ah, yeah. Sorry for missing this post. When I tried sleeping to it, I notice that for long sections the CD is lulling me to sleep, but then a sudden change will make my eyes snap open, almost with fear. A good example of this is when we hear clear words for the first time. I think when the man is reading from the Tibeten Book of the Dead and also the woman speaking about the "book of life" or whatever (only got to that part once so far, just before I got out of bed to turn it off. Hehehe.) There are other examples too that don't have to do with vocals, though. At times there will be audio signifying "awake" just after a long section of "lull" if that makes sense. Maybe next time I play it I'll write down track times of this happening.

Btw, I'm liking the CD a lot. Just not gonna try sleeping to it. I agree it is less random than DevLab, and I think I like that better. Interestingly, I prefer progressive music to line/chorus music though.

Well I used Devlab to help put me to sleep for ages. So for me Hummer is a complete down-tune from the norm, so all the changes throughout are more easy for me to tolerate cos I'm used to it.

I live with my girlfriend. Music to her has to be super happy and chirpy, preferably with 80s synth in there. I doubt she would appreciate be blasting out ambient drone as we went to sleep ")

Just got the Hummer today. I went into my room, shut off all the lights and luckly no one was home so I was in complete silence. I got into bed with my headphones and clicked play.

What I heard was very beautiful. Some moments, especially cosmic surf make me actually feel very happy. All in all its very hypnotic, very relaxing, sensual and even sexy in some parts. I admit that it wasn't as quiet as I initially thought it was supposed to be. In some areas there's a sudden bass drop or low frequency that catches me by surprise, and the flute seems to come out of nowhere too. Very cool though.

Don't know how it compares to Devlab. Clearly these two albums set out to do very different things. Devlab wants to spook you, disturb you, confuse you, and groove you all at once. Hummer just wants to soothe, to caress, to open your mind and close your eyes and let you just breathe and think easy.

Lovin this :D

Waiting for my copy of Hummer maybe tomorrow. I really like Devlab but only past song #6 where it's way less crazy with high pitch noises like info dump aaARAAAAAAAAAAAFHSHSHSHSH hehe!

So I guess I'll dig Hummer more?
