This is the first I've heard of that.

So we get "Epicloud" from the vinyl, "Cry Forever" and "Take My Ego" from iTunes, and the whole Epiclouder disc from the digipack.

Fuck. I am kind of annoyed at how many times you'd have to purchase this album to have the "full" version, but I'll happily take a few extra tracks.

It's all incentive. Besides, it's not like you can just uh, "obtain" the other tracks anyway.

Yes... obtain...

Yeah, I know. I've mentioned this before, it's just ocd for me. Bothers me a bit that no matter which version I get, I still don't own the full thing.

Just me, though.

I myself do, and never was under the knowledge that you grow out of it, or can get past it. I only ask this in regards to Epicloud which is beyond filled with happiness and good vibes and how I haven't really seen the opposite side of that in Devin's music lately. Yes, one could say, well you have Deconstruction, but didn't he say that was more of a forced sound for him now? I guess I'm just really interested in what happened, or changed, or what he learned that has made such a positive impact because I want some!

I think Dev has said that he was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder, and it was really just the drugs and alcohol that were the problem and since he's sobered up its gone away. However, I do find it fascinating that he's almost always had this dichotomy to his music, where he recorded a solo album and a Strapping album in relatively the same time frame, showing two sides to his personality.

Honestly.
I'm dissapointed in this album.
Dev is my favourite artist. So saying I'm dissapointed is a big thing for me.
I think its very much like Addicted pt2. but imo. Addicted was simply consistently better.
There are some throw away tracks here.
Lucky Animals is super catchy. but in that annoying shit pop song way. I have no interest in listening to it.
I feel a similar vibe for a few tracks on epicloud.

The standout track "Grace" is by far the best song. And for me an instant fave. Classic Hevy Devy. sounds like a spiritual successor to "dynamics", soul driven, OM, etc... A trademark Dev song.
But for some of these tracks. I feel just when they should get interesting, Just when Dev would usually take the song on a proggressive route, it finishes.
I understand the purpose of this album is to be a pop metal exorcism of sorts. and not a prog journey. I get this, I guess I'm just not feeling it. yeah. it has some catchy hooks. but Addicted did it a lot better for the most part.

Someone mentioned on last.fm that the Cry Forever sample in iTunes sounds a little like Sonata Arctica. Spot on. Even the title doesn't sound like Devin. Nothing mindblowing, but nothing bad either. I'd like to hear the full song. I'm happy to hear Anneke on Take My Ego. I waited for the song to explode, but it didn't came. It seems to be a ballad. It's a little weird for Devin but I like it, more than Cry Forever.

If the production quality of these songs is an indication of the bonus cd, I'm more than happy, by the way. The samples sound fine.

Why hello there. And I'd like to say that I'd also be perfectly happy with this quality on the bonus CD, it was better than I expected for the iTunes demos actually.

Just heard True North for the first time without commentary. It doesn't feel as thrown together as I thought it would. And since I had anticipated True North being my least favorite of the album, that speaks volumes for how much I want the full, physical form.
