24 Epicloud songs need to choose 12. I like them all, the diversity needs some massaging or it'll be confusing. Going to be epic...and Loud!

Fuck that. Either double-album or EpicLoud 2.

seems a pity to leave back 12 whole songs, especially if it goes the way of Ghost 2. they'd be a good set of bonuses for a deluxe edition

Already? We know virtually nothing about the album as of now. I'd say, wait a few months. Or weeks. Depending on the progress according to Devin. :)

Well, there's no telling how much music Dev usually makes for an album compared to how many actually get on it. For all we know, this could be totally normal for him.

I wonder why he needs to limit it to only 12 songs. If that's the case, i REALLY hope Juno & Kingdom don't make the cut. We already have em, no need to waste space w/ duplicate songs!!!

Where does he say Juno's gonna be in it? 12 songs is just how many he can fit on a disk, making it a 2 disk album would make it more expensive to sell and would potentially put people off. Or summit like that.

could've sworn I read somewhere that he wanted to put Juno on it... maybe it was just that most of the songs were in a similar style so i could be wrong. And assuming this is supposed to be a more poppy album, i wonder if all the songs are shorter (3-5 min) or if there are any long ones. If the former, then he should be able to fit maybe 14 songs on it. not to be greedy (i know we're getting 3 more albums as it is) but i mean an album can hold 80 minutes, no reason to keep it around 45 minutes to an hour.

although i would definetely buy a "delux" version with all 24 songs if that is how he decided to release it. damn it he just writes too much

He didn't think much of Juno, and it was from the Addicted sessions.

The album will be the album it's gonna be. Using the length of a CD as an excuse to put filler (if there is any) is never the right choice.

true but when has Dev ever written a "filler" song? obviously if they suck then yea leave em off but he clearly says that he likes em all so i can only assume they're good.

Was this posted already? I can't remember seeing this before.

http://www.noisecreep.com/2012/02/16/devin-townsend/

""I'm doing this record called 'Epicloud,'" Townsend says. "Over the course of the full record, there's sort of new agey stuff, jazzy stuff, really heavy stuff. We basically cover the gamut. "'Epicloud' is the first record that I felt confident enough to include all those things on one record so it goes between melodic hard rock to schizophrenic heavy metal to country to really ambient stuff and it's all in one place. "I'm using a gospel choir, a string section and a horn section for this one as well," he says. "On 'Deconstruction,' I got to use the Prague Philharmonic and really go far into making an absurd album as over the top as possible and on 'Epicloud' I'm trying to take the same advantages to make some things musically very pleasing, as opposed to just claustrophobic.""

Sounds incredible. :)
