In my music library, I list everything as 'The Devin Townsend Project'.

The weird thing here is that Addicted also has two different album covers! That is, one with 'The' and one without it. Very annoying... :)

When I import the CD's to iTunes, they list as 'Devin Townsend Project'.

Meh, who cares.

Just stumbled across the track "ghost" on youtube and as I've already pre-ordered the bundle I'm happy I didn't find every track but I have to say on my fucking god I can't wait to hear the whole album now.......

Currently a little fight about how to tag Devin's music on Last.fm (on the Devin Townsend page). Tagging it all as "Devin Townsend" is currently winning. Just makes more sense to me.

I have tagged the artist for every DT, DTB and DTP track as "Devin Towsend", but I've tagged the album artist as "The Devin Townsend Band" or "The Devin Townsend Project" where it's appropriate. Easier to organise. :D

Well, there are more than enough people on last.fm having discussions about tags, indeed.
So, are we tagging Ghost ambient, country, progressive 'metal', hevydevy, farts or enyacore?

Yeah, how is my friend who deliberately rigs his last.fm going to keep Devin in first if it's split across 4 names? Do basic arithmatic?

(actually he just listens to the albums under the name Devin Townsend over and over again even when he doesn't want to it's kind of sad really)

Also I am tagging it ambient enyafarts.

It's weird to try to build up your last.fm to look certain way... Really, what's the point?

The tagging question is a good one tho. At the moment Devin Townsend occupies first place in my charts while DTP is second. It would kinda make more sense to have them together though, I guess. Wonder what moniker he's going to release Epicloud under...

Yeah... I tried suggesting to Last.fm a feature that would let individual users group together artists on their own charts - but noooo, they didn't think much of that. :P
So... Devin's music occupies 4 places on my top 7. Excluding SYL, it's 16 262 played tracks all together. Which would put Devin on the top of my charts by a good margin. :| BUT NOOOO!..

Silly Last.fm.... one moment they complain how we don't tag correctly, the next moment they don't wanna let us have tidy charts. :P

I don't know if it's been said or not, but a huge ton of praise has to go to the unsung heroes here, Mike St.-Jean and Dave Young. The subtleties of the drums and keyboards on here really makes this thing. There's times when I hardly notice the keys are there at all, and others where I realize their filling in all the right places, simple but beautiful. These guys are musicians to be respected for sure.

THIS. IS. HOW. IT. SHOULD. BE. DONE.

I used to scrobble (read: "scrobble" = listened to and charted on Last.fm) music overnight to "represent my musical taste" better. That translated to scrobbling Rush all night for a few months giving me this huge Rush "wang", along with a lot of other artists. Devin barely made a dent, so I reset and am doing things properly. Now I only play stuff overnight if I listened to it on my mp3 player (which doesn't scrobble, so it makes sense to represent it like that).

ANYWAY - I think I put down Ghost as just "ambient".

Here's an idea - check out, say, Kawaii. "Beneath" the track is this awesome, almighty drone coming from I don't know what. It's friggin' beautiful. Maybe someone should go through Ghost, take out all the main instruments, and just leave the background drones in. The trve ambient album!

Seriously, I would love that. If I got the ProTools sessions, I'd try it.

I really can't thank Devin enough for making this quadrilogly. I've been through a bunch of personal change myself the past few years, and this music, as well as Devin's other projects has always been with me.
Ghost definitely feels like the logical conclusion bringing it together, and they have all truly enriched my life.
Sorry to gush like a schoolgirl1 and suck up to the man, but when there's music which truly affects you I guess it can't be helped.
I feel I will still be listening to this stuff twenty years from now, the music feels like a part of my life now.
Sorry to get all emotional but I love my baldy old hero! Just spectacular.

"Seams" really reminds me of "Lady Helen" from Ki. Similar chords and vocals, it even has a similar placement in the album. It gave me a nice sense of familiarity, like a look back at how far Dev's come from the beginning of the DTP. It's not just me is it?
