Thank goodness. So glad I spent $45 to get them!

I've been waiting to hear those riffs in Heart Baby after seeing him play them in different clips for a long time now. It doesn't disappoint.

The first half of the album is definitely the strongest. Monsoon has a little too much flute for my liking, the bed tracks off Youtube made it sound like an incredibly spacious and relaxing ambient track with lots of reverb guitar but there ended up being barely any at all with the flute incessantly blaring.

Quite a bit more than I thought it would be. Any other guy would have drums, bass, and guitar. But Devin adds so much more. The ambience stays busy, which on its own would be relaxing enough. The music is so fun, inspirational, and peaceful. Some songs vibe driven, others, merely meditative. Its perfectly put together. These four albums were quite a lot of arrangements and ideas to be done in such a short time. And none of them failed.

As for Texada, it was to me, an extension of the previous song, progressing into something FUN eventually drifting into subtle calm. It was great.

I like Ghost most, because it seems upbeat and fun while staying gentle.
Fly is powerful, but like Ki's winter, I wish it was a song instead of a repetitive phrase. But that phrase goes a long way.
Kawaii is more the acoustic camp fire song, and heart baby for me was like the enya vehicle: Like floating in a cloud watching memories float by.
Dark Matters is like a quick filler, but sounds like what it would be like if you woke up on a space ship and heard music. I guess. Cool though.
Feather been out for awhile...perfect, especially the last 2 minutes that were edited out.
Everything else is as good as the next.
To me, As You Were is the hidden gem. Dig the beat, love the way dev sings it.

Long story short, Dev sings great. Love the sound of his guitar. A storm of elements. Truly a feel good record that gives you a hug. Decompression was a good definition because when you listen the world around you seems distant. Devin pushes the envelope right through the wall.

Literally my only issue with Ghost is that Monsoon, Texada, and Infinite Ocean go on a bit too long. Cut off about 2 minutes from each and it'd be perfect.

It's perfect already of course, but it'd be more perfect.

I have this strange feeling I may enjoy Ghost 2 the most out of the DTP even though its not one of the main albums

I'm pumped for Ghost 2 as well. I really like the tracks that are "vibe-ey."

they play back gapless on most player software at this point. Winamp, iTunes, Songbird, foobar2000, they all scan and make sure the starts and ends of the MP3s ignore the dropouts caused by the header data. if they don't, try another player!

Nah, the gaps in this rip are actually in the files. They were either ripped very poorly, or the promo CD has huge gaps.

Yeah, there are two versions out there, one with the gaps, one without.

No. No. You leave Texada alone! :x

I actually quite agree, those songs seem to drag a bit.

They do drag a bit if you're listening to them individually, but in the context of the album I think they flow together really well. I kinda like how the "song" portion of Texada is the first half, with layers and intensity building up, then the other half is flute and the layers slowly fading away.

Despite some tracks feeling slightly long, the album itself doesn't feel long enough haha. Maybe Ghost 2 can prolong the chilled out vibe when it's released. :)

Back from my crazy bush adventure. Listening to this album at 4 am under the stars, not being able to distinguish the sounds coming from the CD from the sounds coming from nature, amazing. Listened again while driving down a winding dirt road through the forest, Heart Baby sent me into pure bliss. I didn't want to go back to the city and continue being a working man. Just wanna hang out outdoors forever.

I agree that the album itself doesn't feel long, and if I wasn't listening intently to it, I probably wouldn't care. Indeed, the first few times I heard it I was doing other stuff while listening, and the length of those tracks didn't really bother me. It's quite excellent background music, honestly. It's just, after hearing such an attention-required experience like Deconstruction, I was determined to listen to it to pick out all the nuances, which Ghost isn't as good for.

Obviously, still an amazing album, and the length of those tracks just ends up making the shorter ones that much sweeter. :)
