Sort of like the operatic-sounding vocals he busts out in The Eruption, In the Wordless Chamber, etc...

I also got that feeling (which is great for me cause Prometheus is my favorite record that ihsahn has ever done)

There'll be a hell of a lot of music coming out right then, it'll be worth it.

I've been waiting around thinking it's March for ages. Oh well, I'm sure I'll just about live.

Argh! The first song which comes up is so amazing.

Every element in this album adds up to pure metal.

Demonic and operatic guest vocals? Orchestra? Jens Bogren? It can only mean DECONSTRUCTIOOOOON.

Well I can tell already that this album is gonna be huge!

Kind of makes me hope Devin will be offered a chance to score a movie sometime in the future. Hell, I'd love to just rent out my local movie theater and just listen to this album, I love to hear it on those freakin speakers!
Which brings me to this little pondering thought, a poster previously mentioned that one of the tracks sounded kind of like a Danny Elfman piece, I agree. It had that same kind of fast, jumpy pace that Elfman's music usually has, wonder if Dev is influenced by him? If not, maybe great minds just think alike?

I'm also curious is to which track the first song that we hear in update #2 is.....

Really looking forward to this!

Finally! Someone else who actually likes Prometheus! It's always 'Anthems this', or 'Nightside that'... not that they aren't good albums, but Prometheus just blows them out of the water, for me. Emperor's best work, and Ihsahn's best vocal performance, in my opinion. No, I'm not a representation of how most people seem to feel, but I'm glad I'm not alone! :P

Aaaaaanyways...

Totally agree with you; the first 'true' clip of the video is ridiculous. Hearing that scream of 'YES!' and the subsequent explosion of sonic perfection that follows just gives me fully-body shivers... I've replayed that a million times over the past two days, and it hasn't gotten old at ALL. Assuming that's from The Mighty Masturbator... I think that might just be my favorite Deconstruction track, come June. That is, if I can actually even determine if one song stands above the others, because they all sound incredible right now :D

If Chris Poland dropped in a solo this would be like the pow-wow of all I hold dear in this little life.

+1 to Paul Madisval, I would die. Not that this album doesn't already make me cling on the brinks of death as it is.

No love for IX Equilibrium? That album shreds and then some.
btw Decon sounds like the freaking apocalyspe. I have shat my pants multiple times in the past days in excitement, christ Devin I love you.

Actually... I almost mentioned that, but thought 'No, people care even less about IX...' Guess I was wrong! You're right, the whole album slays; Of Blindness and Subsequent Seers is one of my favorite Emperor songs. Actually like it better than Anthems and Nightside, but... like I said, I'm an unusual case. :P

On Topic - listened to the vid yet another time; Joe D sounds absolutely monstrous in Sumeria. That and Planet of the Apes pretty much redefine what it means to play 'crushing' riffs... it's like listening to the earth splitting in two, in musical form :D

god yes, people seem to overlook IX because its less symphonic and more crush, but by god does it crush hard. It has this reall cool intangible atmosphere which your typical extreme metal albums doesn't seem to hold either.

On topic: I have never been this excited for an album before... ever!

When I was about 5 years old my family had to live with my grandparent's on their farm in the country for a few years. We then moved a whole lot after that (I went to 13 different schools by the time I graduated). That farm, though I was in and out of there through the years, became 'home' to me. It hardly ever changed. There was always fun to be had, good food, and good memories. As soon as I heard the sound of gravel hitting the wheel wells as we turned on their dirt road when we visited I'd get so excited to soon be in a familiar place.

I think we want constants in our life. We also want things we can relate to.

This is something I really appreciated about Devin's writing. Hearing a continuity of style from album to album is something I enjoy. He does it all so, well, right that even when similar or repetitive it's still exactly what I want to hear. It is still exactly Devin's style and creativity. I find it comforting, like going back 'home' where you want to be and things are as you want them. When similar riffs kick in I'm like "yep, that's it right there" as hits the right spot.

To put it selfishly, he does what I only wish I could do. That's how I got hooked on him because he could actually play what I only imagined in my head. Pretty much all that I write ends up being evolving themes, patterns and rhythms (mostly due to my lack of talent and creativity, though).

Well said. :guitar:
