Are you going (or planning to go) to the Devin Townsend Project (as co-headliner; Katatonia headlines this night) at Studio Seven in Seattle?

Feel free to discuss anything related to this show here!

Considering it's not even 5 PM in Seattle, don't expect any posts for a day.

It was actually kind of disappointing. He put on a great gig, but most of the stuff was from Epicloud. I can understand that he's touring the album, but when 5 of your songs are things no one has heard yet, it's time to rethink your set. Other stuff was typical stuff he always plays. Maybe I'm just oversaturated with Dev at this point. I've seen him six times since 2009. Seven since 2006. There was no Ziltoid and out of all of the songs to choose from Deconstruction, he chose Planet of the Apes. Unless you're a fan, it's very hard to follow the rhythm of that song. As said before, the rest of the stuff not Epicloud was typical fare: Regulator, War, Vampira was cool. Nothing from Ziltoid, Terria, Accelerated Evolution, Addicted, Ki, or Ghost. Grace was definitely the high point of the set, though. That song is pretty badass. Still though, I can't see the logic in starting a set with a song no one has ever heard. They're pumped to see you and then you play a song that they can't freak out over because they don't know it. Again, maybe it was just first show pains, or maybe I've just had too much Dev. Hopefully, he takes one or two songs from Epicloud out and throws in some more goodies that fans know and new fans can bob their heads to without scratching their heads in confusion (Planet of the Apes).

Has me worried for how short the set might be for their non-headlining dates! (I ended up NOT being able to goto SF show and will probably have to fly down to LA.. where they're NOT headlining!)

I personally would the thrilled to hear Where We Belong, Grace & More! live. Not to mention Planet of Apes (which I've surprisingly not seen live!)

Looking forward to a full setlist, and hopefully a full length set at the LA show!

It's interesting that you think you may be oversaturated with dev after seeing him six times, but your issue is that he played new stuff rather than old. Surely if you're oversaturated you'd be looking to hear something new and refreshing. I'd be as excited as shit to hear new tunes. Each his own, just found it interesting.

Far from typical though. I've seen him 6 times without counting London, and he did not play it in any of those gigs. Haven't seen Regulator either, but I know he plays that one.

Nah, I'll take something I can sing along to over new stuff any day, when it comes to live stuff. I feel perhaps I might be oversaturated, because I barely even wanted to go lol two years ago, I would have been STOKED. War was nice, but he didnt scream at all during the song. It leaves me wondering if maybe he's trying to shift a bit away from his screaming, or hell, he's 40. Maybe he doesnt have it in him to scream through a set anymore.
