I find the lack of reviews disturbing.

Me too. Videos (ok, we have By Your Command, Juular and Seventh Wave) and a setlist are missing, too.

One of my mates said that he came on late and only did 50 minutes, poor guy isn't having much luck with English festivals, what with how Bloodstock went in 2010.

I have been a long term Devin Townsend fan; it is no secret amongst my friends that he is, by far, my favourite living musician. However, I have never had the oppertunity to see him live. So even when the time of his set is pushed back, clashing completely with The Prodigy, there was no way I was missing a single moment of his headline act on the Pepsi-Max stage. I was stood three rows from the front. Behind me the entire tent was completely packed - the crowd continued outside beyond view - with fans and who chanted for the man himself to appear. A Z-TV video presentation played before the show getting everyone in the mood for Devin, frequantly causing outbursts of laughter. There were cheeseburger chants and ziltoid puppets all over the place.
Then Devin showed up. It was my first time seeing Devin live in the flesh and it was the highlight of the festival and the year for me, he did not dissapoint. He was so close to me I could reach out and touch him. He played a set which was diverse and contained many classics from throughout his solo career.
At one point I even made eye contact with the legend himself and found myself shedding a genuine tear of joy, no hyperbole involved. He was clearly a man who loves what he does and his warm feeling towards us was replicated in the crowd. I did not feel more love for any other band during the rest of Download festival than the crowd showed to our hero.
Set List
----------
- Seventh Wave
- Regulator
- By Your Command
- Life
- Ih-Ah!
- Kingdom
- Supercrush!
- Bend it Like Bender!
- Juular
- Vampira
- Bad Devil
I can't remember all that much of the show itself beyond which songs played and the feeling of estacy I felt. It really was exhilarating. I will definitely make a huge effort to see him again and cannot wait for Epicloud!
Based on how Devin Townsend Project compared to the other bands I saw at Download, I'll give my musical hero and the band maximum honours for his unbeatable, hilarious and heart-warming performance. (5/5)

the Dev got his signals crossed; I asked him to play it at the acoustic shows, not at Download (when I was already in Germany)!
Although I did tell the camera guy at the By A Thread premiere to make sure Devin plays Seventh Wave in Minneapolis on September 16
