Just got back from this. Devin was awesome. Before his set started, "The Venga Bus" by the Venga Boys started, which was a bit of a curveball at a metal festival, and after it the familiar voice of Ziltoid spoke over the speakers, impersonating a radio DJ. He introduced some Aqua, Abba, Beyonce and something I can't remember while the band was setting up. This bit was AWESOME. So much better than the usual 'lets just play more metal', and it introduced Devin awesomely. The venga bus was actually a relief after Wednesday 13 (whom I was not a fan of)

Devin seemed to be super psyched to be here and performing, and just generally in high spirits. Was great. His personality on stage is so exciting and confident, and he sometimes his insanity is hilarious (apparently Devin couldn't masturbate last night because Ziltoid gave him no sperm). My favorite moments were during By Your Command and The Mighty Masturbator. During By Your Command he got everyone doing the wave your arms left and right in the slow bit thing, but after a few bars of that told us stop cause it looked gay, and not stopping is what angered Ziltoid into the next section of the song. I fuck yeahed at that. The moment during The Mighty Masturbator was in the technoish bit, he said something along the lines of "Now, for the stereotypical crowd participation, everyone do this" and got the crowd pumping our fists to the beat, "Now for the typical metal rhetoric, I want all you motherfuckers in here to make a pit circle." then I think he kept pointing at spots and shouting 'pit circle there, pit circle there'

Ahhh fuck yeah I love you Devin.

Set list from memory.

Truth
By Your Command
Supercrush
Kingdom
Juular
The Mighty Masturbator (not the whole thing)

Think I'm missing a song or two but not entirely sober so can't remember.

All you people going to see the Devin/Meshuggah concerts in Sydney and Melbourne are fucking lucky assholes. (Meshuggah played one of the songs off their new album. I'm not sure what was up but for that song only the bass was booming, which made it hard to listen. I just assume no one knows how to set up a PA for the unbelievable heavyness of their new stuff.)

Yeah, it was really really good. It was my first time seeing Devin and it was great, even though the 40min(?) set felt like 10 to me :P
I greatly envy anyone in Sydney or Melbourne who gets to go to a Dev/Meshuggah sidewave, I'm really hoping to see Devin back here in Australia at some point doing his own thing, like outside of a large festival scenario, coz although that was a great set, I WANT MORE! :P

The setlist above seems pretty bang-on to me although I think TMM came before Juular...I don't know. Which yeah, started from the techno-y bit which is understandable considering the song's length.

Dev's vocals were fantastic, although being up the front for most of the time with everyone singing along made it hard to hear at times, what a stellar performance, pulled some ripper notes. I could hear people around me going, 'Wow.' Also yeah, he was real upbeat and really got into it, don't think he stopped grinning at any point in time. He seemed so chuffed to be there and in turn everyone else enjoyed him enjoying Australia. :) It was a really great crowd too, when I think about it, that whole stage and everyone surrounding it was just one big ball of happy.

Oh, and I was the girl on my friend's shoulders with my Zilly puppet headbanging along. :D I was hoping to see a few more, but a lot of people asked me where I got him from so I told them about omerch and to maybe get a couple of shirts to make shipping worthwhile, hopefully next tour I'll see more Zillys floating around!
