Am I the only one who thought Anneke looked really nervous the whole night? She also sounded a bit off pitch a bit to me too. I watched the stream and this might just be because she was twice as loud as anything else. (never streaming a concert again. nothing better than getting excited when Back Where We Belong comes on and then OH LOL NOPE THE STREAM DROPPED)

The show was excellent however. I wish he had played some Terrria and AE like everyone else (them being my favourite of the old albums :p) but other than that the set was good.

She was a little pitchy at times, especially in the beginning. But there were a lot of parts where Anneke was godly.

Not to mention that we can't put a choir of Annekes on stage like Devin can in the studio.

Well, I loved the whole thing from start to Finnish, again only distraction for me was the video sync issues, but really no big deal, As for Anneke being off pitch well just shows the human element to the performance as far as I am concerned, not that I noticed anything major anyway, guess I was to caught up in the moment.

"We know that it's only human"....

While this is reality, not everything was 100% perfect, but then that wa beer possible, and that's what live shows, particularly of this magnitude are all about. The set list was far from my idea of perfection, but I understand all the reasons. What does it come down to in the end? Did I have a good time? I had a f***ing blast!!! The show was ambitious and epic and a monstrous amount of fun!

I thought Anneke's voice was lovely, didnt notice any pitchynessisms.

From the videos on youtube it seems that the live stream had a totally different mix to what was on the floor at the venue, and this seems to have made both her and Dev's voices stand out more than they should. I am sure it will all sound better on the final release.

Im still wibbly from it...

Most of the things have been mentioned already but I'll share a few of my thoughts. I was at the show and had a blast.

The slightly negative stuff: No real choire, omission of certain passages/notes/solos during a few songs, out of sync video, a bit too much going on at times, the setlist was good but I agree it could've contained more of the less-played songs, not sure the story worked 100% of the time, was hoping (just a litte) for a S&R song with Vai (who is currently touring in Europe and provided commentary to entire thing)

The positive: Anneke, sound quality, venue, sexy dancers, SYL songs with Jed (Detox esp.) were simply unbelievable and made the crowd go absolutely berserk, the entire epicness of the whole thing

Personal highlights for me: True North, Grace, Kingdom, Love and Detox

Overall, it was way worth the price of admission. Seeing the thing live was an incredible experience. The show was awesome, the crowd was great and being able to experience the SYL songs was something I'll cherish forever. Huge respect to everyone involved in this, it must have been crazy amount of work. Seeing Devin in December again, can't wait.
Peace

Right so I just got back late monday The vid was out of synch at show, I felt like the chioir weren't singing for real as there was no mircophones  I enjoyed the show, but Earth day or deep peace would be welcomed. It felt like most people had come for the two SYL songs were I was as everyone went crazy. I liked the songs but enjoyed the other stuff more. I was so tired near the end that I couldn't bang my head anymore  was a great show but to much went on the same time. I felt really uneasy watching the woman dancing around Harlod was not needed to look like a lap dance.

I don't know what to think...
Hearing Detox and Love in 2012, with all the current members + Jed playing on it, sounds to me like perfection.I mean, Love? is really transgressed!! It sounded exactly like it was : SYL+DTB = best of 2 worlds!
So it's frustrating to think that this will be only a one off, without any chance of reformation or something else (Dev was very clear about that)
Devin needs his yin and his yang, he cannot fight against that. His dark side lives only because his shiny side exists and I actually don't understand why he claims to live in peace and being not interested anymore by his dark side...because he knows and we all know that one day, the monster will be back! so why lying to himself like this? why no accepting that the dark Dev that sings "Oh My fucking God" needs the white Dev that sings "Lucky Animals"?
In fact, hearing these SYL songs were...painful, because reminding me how powerfull was this band
Moreover I think that SYL deserved a better end than this plit....

What do you guys think of that?

Loved.It. Went all around the venue, from the middle, to the back during the acoustic second half opener to almost right at the front when Detox hit. A-Mazing show. Not a single fault I can find with it at all. Sure he didn't play every song you personally wanted but I didn't miss anything when that show ended. The stage show was astounding, up there with some of the best I've ever seen. Loved the story line (yet again, teaching and affirming life lessons). Myself and my other friends who have been fans of Devs/SYL for many years now were hugging, even tearing up at points. Seeing Jed up there again warmed my heart, plus the streamers after Grace was just brilliant. It was like being a child again, gazing up in wonder as a blizzard surrounded us!

Thank you to what seems like such a small group of people for pulling off such a huge event which will no doubt stick with me for many years to come.

Only one word can sum it up for me, beautiful.

You asked what people think, so I'll be absolutely honest.

Your notion that someone you don't know, let alone know intimately, is somehow "lying to himself" about how he feels, what his future holds and what his motivations are is, to be frank, an absurd position to take. This is a personal view, but I find it unlikely that I would say something like that to my own family, let alone to some dude who makes music I like.

If you want to hear SYL or SYL-style music, then that's cool, I can totally understand that. But no one can pretend to feel something that they just don't feel. To suggest that someone is lying to themselves about something as intimate and personal as that? Mate, that is just rude.

Hopefully you take this as my honest opinion in response to yours, nothing more.

Peace. :D

Oh man, I am so happy to have attended the Retinal Circus. Sure, it could have been better in my view, but I take what I get, and what I got was amazing.

I would have loved a real choir, but that would have made the event even more expensive. I would love to have had certain songs, but then again everyone has their favorites and you can't always get what you want.

All in all, I'm still in a daze. It'll take some time to get down from this weird, happy state. :D
