This kind of push works best on a tour like this with multiple bands. It isn't designed for the existing fans for the most part.

I don't doubt that you're right Paul, but how do you know that? It could just be Dev wanting to try out the new material. Where's your inside track? :D

Dev's said he wanted to get this out, which was the more non-proggy stuff. "Didn't want to throw people a curveball on this one". As he said...

Dev will win fans over just because he's Dev. It's working so far. Whatever he does he has been getting a bigger fan base.

To me, it seems like he's pulling an accessible set, but tossing in a few songs like POTA and War just to keep the rabid fanbase happy (oddly, the rabid fanbase seems like the most upset about that).

I don't go to as many concerts as I used to, but it used to be pretty common for bands to favor their new material on tour because that was what they were trying to sell. I don't go to a lot of shows anymore, so I'm not sure if that has changed. I'd be more surprised if a band didn't play a large amount of new material. That's just what I'm used to.

Me on the left in the flannel, my buddy Nate from portland on the right in the coolest t-shirt ever made:

This show was intense. The set wasn't quite as impressive as last years, but hey nothing quite beats seeing Disruptr live. Also was quite happy during Kingdom when he saw me looking straight up at him (front row and center, bitches) and having him shout into the mic: "WHY HELLO ALEX". It's awesome that the man remembered me throughout the evening starting with when I approached him 3 hours before the doors even opened.

very awesome setlist (especially concerning the focus on new material), hopefully he keeps WAR in the set until finishing the tour with Fear Factory in November.
Keep on cheering for that track guys!

That's a quality photo, Alex! To paraphrase a classic Aussie movie, that should go straight to the pool room.
