Howdy,

I was at the show, having chosen the VIP package. I'm 38, so not your typical concert-goer, and this is my first concert in a LONG time, so keep that in mind. Here's a three part review. I'll review the VIP package aspect, the performance itself, and the venue:

VIP PACKAGE: We got our swag to start things off. I loved the laminate. exclusive VIP t-shirt, poster, etc. Good quality gear and in my opinion, well worth it. Then we got to meet the band. I found Devin, Ryan, Dave and Brian to be exceptionally approachable and down-to-earth. It was a real pleasure to meet each of them and listen to their thoughts. They signed everything I put in front of them with a smile, and posed for all the pictures we asked for. Then they all fielded our questions. According to the VIP package info, the meet n' greet with the band was scheduled for 30 minutes, but we easily hit 45 minutes+ and they were gracious hosts throughout. I came in loving the music, and I left with a lot of respect for the individuals as well. We then got a chance to stroll the merch booths, where I added a DTP hoodie and another t-shirt to my swag bag.
PERFORMANCE: In my eyes, DTP can do no wrong, so this is a highly biased review. I LOVED the set. The sound quality was really impressive. Ryan's drumming was thunderous and spot-on. I love drums and it was a real treat to see Ryan demolish his kit. Brian and Dave were also impressive in keeping the rhythem flowing at a fantastic pace. Some bands are just amazing in a live setting, to the point I would argue they sound even better than in the studio (Iron Maiden comes to mind). I would argue that DTP is one of those bands. That brings me to Devin. Mindblowing is the adjective that comes to my mind. His trademark sense of humor was on display throughout the show, and his singing was pitch-perfect. Best of all, you could sense that he was having a blast onstage, and that always comes through in a performance. I feel Devin's voice, especially, sounds incredible live. I would definitely recommend seeing him perform live, and look forward to seeing him again the next time he's around (though I am SERIOUSLY considering taking a trip to the UK in 2012 and catching his "Retinal Circus" show.
VENUE: I really liked the Soundstage venue. The layout was nice, and for DTP's set the sound was perfect. The two opening acts though didn't fare nearly as well with the sound. The Ocean, especially, suffered from a bad mix, and the vocalist was barely audible. A real shame, as their set was very good.
