Because it was only the second night of the tour, I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of a setlist. the_s_rabbit gave a great review of the Minneapolis show, and I was expecting that set, or something very close. Instead, the band deviated considerably from what I expected. Many of the same songs were there, but the order was different. During the show Devin announced that the tour would feature a revolving setlist. They opened with Supercrush. After that, in no particular order (because I can't quite remember the exact order), they played: Truth, Regulator, Bad Devil, Kingdom, Juular, Disruptr, Awake, Hyperdrive, ZTO, Deadhead, Solar Winds (I seem to remember it, anyway), Earth Day, and Vampira. I'm afraid I might have missed one or two. If you were there, please correct me.
It was a great show, as usual. I brought someone who is not a fan of heavier music. She loved how fun the show was and how much fun Devin has on stage. Supercrush was her favorite, as well as Vampira (for the video). For me, it was nice to see Hyperdrive and Awake. It was especially nice that they encored with Earth Day, one of my favorites. I loved the looseness of the show, the way the band had a "let's try it" attitude rather than sticking to a well-rehearsed set.
I hope you all go to see DTP if they come through your area. It will be a great show - but if you're on this site you probably already know that. I can't wait for them to come to Detroit next week. I looked forward to seeing them twice in a week, but given the approach of changing the setlist, I really look forward to some pleasant surprises.
As for the opener, The Omega Experiment, they were very impressive. I didn't know until I saw on here that forumite daneulephus was part of the band. They have a great sound with good, melodic vocals, which I really like. If you get a chance to see them, do it.
