A good friend of mine just gave me the album a few days ago. I had always been a Strapping fan and Ziltiod remains on my favorites so needless to say this album was on my list of things to buy.
I was very impressed on my first pass through of the album, the layering work with vocals, and all the synth work was astounding.
And of-course I loved the drums subtle yet powerful.
Now, for the personal part; I'm 18 years old, and just lost my mother over the summer... This album is one of the best things to come along in the past months, it's an amazing pick-me-up with the positive vibes, and up-beat feel.

To be honest it's getting pretty difficult to find decent music anymore, and this fits the role just nicely.
So in closing I'd just like to say, that Devin your music has gotten me through a lot of hard times, and a lot of good times, and I shall remain a fan of yours until I go deaf

It seems to me like the energy of the DTP is centred around a sort of philosophy of "I want to do ...X... and that's completely okay, because I'm being honest, and doing what I really want to do". The theme of the project seems to be to be very much about acceptance of self, and all the facets that Self encompasses.

Like Ki - "I want to shut up a bit, throw a curveball to my fans and NOT go over the top on this record... and that's okay" or Addicted - "I'm going to explore an area of my musicality where I'm comfortable and my fans are comfortable, and do what I already know I can do, be a little bit cheesy and a thirty different kinds of epic... and that's okay."

So I guess Decon might be - "I'm going to go COMPLETELY over the top, as well as being a little bit silly, and that's okay". It'll be interesting to see how Dev can express what seems like such a positive energy in what's apparently going to be a very chaotic conflicting record

It reminds me of Dev's commentary on Forgotten, on Physicist, where he's like "Okay, I'm a man, I like to watch porn and jack off occasionally, so I'm gonna write a silly song, because I feel like it" (apologies for misquotations, I think I got the gist).

at this point it's fair to say as fans of Devin no matter what he decides to write we're open to it and probably going to enjoy it....more so, the more we hear Dev explain his reasoning for experimenting with new sounds the more it makes sense. His shit is just on a different level (s) compared to everyone else.

This is an album that really brings me joy. It's what heavy music, I feel, should be more often. eDrums, I really do feel for you there, and while I still have my mother, I've experienced a lot of loss during my life, but probably none that compares to that (two best friends died fighting "wars" for the USA, lost multiple family members to cancer, and so on). It's been almost 2 years since you posted that, and I hope things have gotten better since. I see exactly what you're talking about there though. Music, especially heavier music, to me, has become too oppressive over the years. It's great to hear an album that brings fun melodies to the forefront in a heavy fashion. That's what I get from this album. It's more poppy than any of the other DTP releases, but at the same time it's something that brings it with a very heavy edge to it.

I fully agree, I've been having a shitty time as of late, though nothing as serious as losing one's mother, but I decided to explore more of Devs work outside of Strapping and this was the first one I came to. I've basically had it on repeat for the last 3 days straight, and it's done wonders to lift my spirits. I hope things have gone well for OP in the time since his post.

I know exactly what you mean. It's completely uplifting and light without being too fluffy if you get what I mean?
Whenever I have to do something I'm not looking forward to I often put it on in the background to make the task easier.

In a previous job I had the sh*tty task of emptying the gross bins containing many a fetid thing in a student complex at 6am for about an hour every morning so I used to stick Addicted on every time and it made the whole thing pass much quicker.
