I second that motion. I'd love to hear it, whether it's perfectly synched or not. :)

Maybe tomorrow, I've never actually bothered trying to put anything on youtube.

-edit: also, Windows Movie Maker crashes when I try to import my mashed-up mp3. Oh well.

-edit 2: never mind, all fixed. Possibly tomorrow.

Well, since there's no "Both" option, I'm going for the Addicted version. Not only is it new; I like the guitar sound way better, there's real drums and I'm a sucker for female vocals, especially Anneke, who has been recording beautiful vocals for over a decade now.

Is that auto-tune at 2:03 in the newest version?

BTW, I voted for the Addicted version. I absolutely love the happy vibe found in that song. To be honest, that's the kind of vide I thought we would get with most songs, but no.

Ziltoid version, by quite a long way. The Addicted version is good and Anneke is a great vocalist, but it loses some of the emotion of the original, in my mind at least.

The Addicted version of Hyperdrive is probably the worst showcase for Anneke's vocals on the whole album. She just shouts her way through the whole song, the ZTO Hyperdrive is much more subtle.

Even though I prefer the Ziltoid version slightly, I disagree with this comment. To say that Anneke "shouts through the whole song" is in my opinion a wrong opinion. :D

I didn't mind at first, but after listening to this album some 10 times, every time I hear the chorus, it just grates my nerves.

Like I said, possibly tomorrow. I want to try and sync it up a tad bit better, but I'm too drunk now to actually do it. :)

Guys I haven't said this yet but this new Hyperdrive is my favourite Devsong ever, it truly has blown Ki, Skeksis, and Almost Again out of their tie for that spot.

Your favorite Dev song ever lacks Dev's vocals?

To me, Dev's vocals, both styles, are his most distinguishing characteristic - even more so than his Infinityesque wall of sound. Maybe if Dev throws in a certain Billy Ray Cyrus cover featuring Anneke in the middle of Deconstruction as a ballad it'll end up being your new favorite. :o

Well he still wrote it gEEZE, although I suppose with my Anneke vocal love (when the old version was 9th tops) saying that is more like saying it's my favourite song with the name Devin Townsend attatched. Then again, the style change, guitar tone, real drums, and better production all count, and if he'd done vocals on it, add in his improvement since Ziltoid, and it'd probably still be my favourite.

Hyperdrive has always been one of my favorite songs by Dev...but I honestly think that the new version 1-upped the original. The original was great, but the new one has this upbeat feel in comparison. I really like it that way.

Plus I could totally imagine this version being played on modern rock radio, which is neat in its own way.

The one thing that I think might improve this new version would be having a little more of Dev's vocals in it, instead of it being 98% Anneke, 2% Dev.

There we go. Hope this works, since my internet connection isn't letting me stream the video properly, so I don't know how much the youtube compression raped it. Anyway:

That sounds awesome! My internet connection's a bit rubbish too, so I can't listen to it all the way through, it seems. Well done. :D
