First listen, and just got to Supercrush!
I had goosebumps when it kicked in.

Much love to Devin and friends, and the outstanding music they keep making!

I only like the ending of The Way Home. I am surprised that, given all the Ih-ah love, there hasn't been much talk of the unveiling of the first Devin soprano vocals that I'm aware of. It wasn't falsetto, that was singing. And in two songs at least he's done bass. That means he has now officially filled out the entire standard human vocal ranges, for both genders. Next comes dog whistle highs and garbage truck lows?

Man, people are weird, complaining about "Awake". I thought "Awake" was amazing, one of his best songs ever. Instant classic.

The album is good but is too song oriented to really flow as an experience... at least not as fluidly as say, Ki. There's not as much ambience between tracks as on other albums of his. It might be a little TOO poppy for me. For what it's doing, though, it makes no mistakes. Brilliant.

I know it's already getting much love on here but Supercrush! is probably the most perfect track I've heard this year.

To have one of Dev's best vocals combined with one of Anneke Van Giersbergen's finest moments makes for something pretty extraordinary. The contrast between his huge sound and the way it drops into her being almost angelic is a proper eargasm. That he then (successfully) risks pushing the track into organised chaos before bringing it back to an even bigger finish is utter genius.

How the dog does he keep managing to do this via so many styles and moods? Just unreal.

Weird. ScottMcTony, that's the third place I've seen you paste that quasireview of yours. I don't know what that says about me. Aside from the fact I disagree with a lot of it, and it keeps bugging me... Heh.

Devin and Anneke are a thousand sorts of impressive.

Bro I only pasted it to two places and the second one was only because I posted it in the wrong place before someone should delete that one it's full of spoilers. Unless you mean the much shorter version I last.fm'd? Anyway tell me everything you disagree with and why if you care enough to and I will probably reconsider (though probably arrive at the same conclusions) I am listening to the album for the 6th time right now.

Oh shit I didn't even mention this album on the whole being my favourite vocal work of all time did I? And even though I expressed greater enjoyment of Anneke, Devin seems to have mastered every vocal technique and range, and I really did only hear standard singing in soprano from Anneke, I just liked it more than Devins best tenor, you know?

Regarding the backing vocals of Anneke on Supercrush! From the very first moment, it quite clearly sounded like "away, away, away" to me. I have no idea where all these other ideas come from. I'd be quite surprised if I'm wrong.

I'm already trying to brainwash all my friends (who, for the most part, aren't big Dev fans) with this. Let's see how it goes :D

Ah, yeah, it was here and MP.com and last.fm, and I figured if I saw it in those three places, it was probably elsewhere too. Oh well. It was just a general opinion disagreement, I think.

For example, Ih-Ah! and Bend It Like Bender! are really high up on my list for Addicted.

I've been listening to Supercrush! like crazy on youtube (in HD it's pretty good sound quality too, considering it's youtube). Really tempted to listen to more, but I am gonna resist so that when the CD arrives there will still be plenty of surprises. But damn I wanna hear more! And I want to start learning these songs on guitar. Stupid homework, always gets in the way of fun things!

It is obviously "away away away away" in Supercrush geeze you guys are deaf. And Liquid (Liquid? LIQUID! - SNAKE), ok then that's just a coolness with the pop I am cool with that even if I cannot dig it. Although I have no idea what MP.com is what
