Is it weird if I say, I'm so glad for people getting away from porn? :P

Well Amber, they say it can be as crippling an addiction as any substance...but I wouldn't know anything about that...

I can't wait to hear this!!!!!

I'd rather meet someone who was on weed than addicted to porn. :P And I should go to bed, its 5 am. Crap.

Wow.

I've been listening for about a week now (yay, press review copies!). I was immediately taken in -- it's like a lot of TERRIA, but more realized. The ideas are more compact, more to-the-point, and yet still have that loose feel to them. I kind of wish I hadn't read what Devin said about control issues and being better off accepting not being in control, as that one bit of philosophy has probably colored my listening more than anything else that has been stated so far about the disc.

And yet that bit of coloring is maybe vital to my perception of the record.

Driving around today after a major disappointment involving a review of a band for a major website (the editor chopped my story to pieces, to the point where my name doesn't belong on it, but hey, it's a major website credit, right?), "Trainfire" came on, and blended into "Lady Helen." And I think I really needed that perceptual stance to appreciate the middle and end of Trainfire (good gods, Devin, please pass along my appreciation for Che's voice! She's got a phenomenal and soothing quality that is rare). That perspective made me appreciate the "bridge"(?) of LH so much more, too.

I've written reviews of a couple of Devin's solo projects and the final three SYL discs, and they've all come really easy to me (it's still a point of accomplishment that Devin and Tracy include a snippet of one of my reviews in the HevyDevy press section). I'm not entirely sure that I can write this one, though, as much as I want to encourage people to buy it. I don't know that I'm comfortable trying to translate this into words.

I do wish as much success as possible to Devin with this disc. I think it's truly a unique moment in his musical catalog - the quiet and introspective ambiance of the approach may not be for everyone, and I certainly think that it's apples to oranges with so much of his other work, but maybe that's where all the magic comes from.

Perhaps if I babble enough like this in a public place, I'll be able to wrap my head around everything I feel about KI. But I kind of hope not.

It was never this hard to pick a favourite. A lot of songs are equally cool! I think I have to wait a week or two with judging the album.

So far I really like it, thank you very much Devin!

Dev, been listening to you since '99. Have everything you've ever released (even Sordid demos, EP's, Devlab, etc.) in hard copy. You're one of the few artists that NEVER fails to deliver. Ever. This is no different. Will be pre-ordering.

Keeping doing what you do, and being you.

When I heard it I thought it was "beware the cat people" which put all kinds of freakish imagery of into my head.

You will have my money for this Dev I assure you!

C and V are right next to each other on the keyboard, you know. I'm calling typo on his 'vat.'

I suppose that makes a lot more sense.

Well I guess I still have that imagery of cat people marching together and how I should beware of them.

"Gato"

Devin:
So you and I
We've come to this place
And never did I believe that I'd survive
Now whatever happens know that I'm about honor
Honor among thieves

So you and I
We talk a little
About the themes and all the thinking
Then I die a little
Whatever happened about honoring thy father, mother
Honor me

Backtrack, easy
Everything's easy
Tell me again (is it us or them, us or them?)

Ché:
Backtrack, people
Beware the vat people
Prepare the cat people

Devin:
Beware the bad people
And I'm a bad man

So you and I
We talk a little
About [ the freedom of ? ] those days
and [ then I die ? ]
Whatever happened to your words about honor
Honor among men?

Backtrack, easy
Everything's easy
Tell me again (is it us or them, us or them?)

Ché:
Backtrack, people
Beware the vat people
Prepare the cat people

Devin:
Beware the bad people
I'm a bad, bad man
(Bad man)

[I am ... ? I am the final guy... ? ]

So you and I
We've come to this place
And never did I believe that I'd survive this
Now whatever happens know that I'm about honor
(Honor, honor, honor)

Backtrack, people
Everything's evil
Tell me again (is it us or them, us or them?)

Ché:
Backtrack, people
Beware the vat people
Prepare the cat people

Devin:
Beware the bad people
I'm a black cat man
