Always good for a few laughs...though the review is pretty much spot on. This is by far my pick for album of the year.

i'd say the review is mostly bad
focusing on the concept and completely missing the music elements
what else to expect from blabbermouth though

Thats pretty much how every review Ive read of it has been. That along with the obligitory few mentions of Drumkit From Hell and the making the reader its Devins first totally solo album in the 'beat it into your head' kind of way.

Comment wise though, I thought the one where the guy was pissed off because metal cant ever be good with humor was pretty funny.

I was actually referring to the 9/10 rating, although, personally I have no complaints! So I'd have to offer up a 10/10 for storyline and music. But you'd have to admit, some of those "user" comments are funny - in a stupid kind of way!

I should stop reading and responding to reader comments in Devin-related news threads and album reviews. Gut wrenching. Almost unbelievable that I frequent that site since the days it wasn't hosted on a Roadrunner server, seven (or so) years ago.

I just stopped reading Blabbermouth, I can`t stand the stupidity of the people posting there. Lots of them don`t seem to have learned how to behave respectfully towards other people at all. Everytime I read the comments I think "how poor can your life be??"
That`s a little mean maybe...

i think you should not take much o blabbermouth seriously
to me its humor/crass humor site with rock/metal news

the users and their comments just add to it all
basically you just dont take it seirously, and its allright

I think its pretty good for metal news although I don't check it that much anymore since I don't care about 99% of the bands that get news posted over there... the comments are funny but if you take them seriously it might cause a brain hemorrhage.

I never read the comments. I do use the RSS feed for my metal news fix though.

Ever since they moved the RSS feeds to Feedburner, I,m get blank screens in Thunderbird from their feeds, Blabbermouth only (other feedburner feeds are OK), anyone else have that?

Oh and they need more than 15 entries. Many more!!

What about;

Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
Redemption - Oringins Of Ruin
Threshold - Dead Reckoning
Megadeth - United Abominations
Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet
Kamelot - Ghost Opera
Shadows Fall - Threads Of Life
Nocturnal Rites - The 8th Sin
Rush - Snakes And Arrows

Ziltoid is not by far better than the majority of the albums I just listed. And please, do not criticize my post unless you have heard at least one of these albums and can make a fair judgment that isnt hindered by any fanboy agendas.

Dream Theater = no
Redemption = good album, but not comparable to Ziltoid originality-wise
Threshhold = I've only heard one song from their myspace and I definitely didn't want to hear any more
Megadeth = no
Porcupine Tree = Maybe if the whole album was as good as Anesthetize and Steven Wilson's vocals/lyrics didn't make me want to do terrible things to his throat
Kamelot = Disappointment of the year so far. It would compare to Ziltoid if it were as good as their last two, but it had way too many forgettable mid-paced songs.

Haven't heard the other three.

The only stuff I've heard this year that I like as much as Ziltoid is in a different genre, so its kinda tied for 1st (comparing Devin to Hiromi to Odious Mortem to Neurosis is hard :?  )

In.
Your.
Opinion.

Personally, with the exception of Porcupine Tree I couldn't give a shit about the other bands you listed.

Your opinions are not fact. neither are mine.

Rokay, Raggy:

Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos (Heard this before, and they've become less and less attached to making meaningful music and more about the showmanship.)
Redemption - Oringins Of Ruin (haven't heard.)
Threshold - Dead Reckoning (Haven't heard)
Megadeth - United Abominations (Best thing they've done in years, but this is in comparison to "Risk". Seriously, if that and "The World Needs a Hero" are your basis of comparison, then you are already on loose ground. Add to that a redo of "Le Tout Lamonde", which IS slightly better, but still not a great song, and you've pretty much shot that puppy in the foot.)
Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet (A really good album, but can't touch ZTO in terms of originality and overall cohesion, and we ALL know that Steve Wilson is a visionary when it comes to his music.)
Kamelot - Ghost Opera (Once Khan can learn to reign in the slight cheesiness that creeps into his songs from time to time, this band could be a monster. Just not this time.)
Shadows Fall - Threads Of Life (Haven't heard it.)
Nocturnal Rites - The 8th Sin (Haven't heard it.)
Rush - Snakes And Arrows (Okay, THIS album gives ZTO a run for its money. BUT..in the end? ZTO wins, for three reasons: it rocks harder, Dev sounds BETTER as he gets older, whereas Geddy is losing some tonal quality in his voice and well, I take back the third one. No one can touch Neil Peart. Still, ZTO FTW.)

Not a fan boy, my favorite band is and always will be Pink Floyd. But that is, of course, just MY opinion.
