I invited Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon) to my upcoming gig/final exam, and explained a little bit about myself, my school, the gig, etc, and also mentioned that I'm a huge Devin Townsend fan.
He reacted on that like so:

Arjen is another musical genius. I love that dude (in a non-"I'd like to pound your ass" kind of way, of course).

He lives in the Netherlands too, and in such a small country, everything is close by.
I invited him to my gig, because it's a pretty important one, and my final exam for the Conservatory. On top of that, one of my teachers played on his record. Jack Pisters, he plays the sitar on the Isis and Osiris song on Into The Electric Castle. So I know him a little bit through him.
Unfortunately he will not be at the gig, because "he is kind of a hermit", his own words...

Arjen is awesome. It's a shame he doesnt like playing live shows. he's such an amazing musician that if he were ever to go on tour he'd blow the minds of everyone that saw him play. Ayreon rocks.

Ayreon/Ambeon/Stream Of Passion is friggen' great!

Is Arjen still sick? I heard he had lost his taste and smell senses.

I wonder if Arjen is thinking "damn, that is a storyline I could have used!" Uhh...yeah, probably not. Though it would be cool, if the next Ayreon CD had Dev on it and some sort of meeting with Ziltoid took place...that would be equally funny and totally unexpected...sort of how the end of The Human Equation was unexpected!
