Ziltoid arrives to taste the greatest coffee in the omniverse. The coffee is not to his liking so he attempts to destroy the Earth via invasion. Captain Spectacular fends him off and reveals him as the nerd he is and heads to N9 where Ziltoid follows, but is once again thwarted. Ziltoid is in a bad mood because of his defeat, so he attempts to summon the Planet Smasher to destroy a planet and bring up his mood. Herman, the Planet Smasher refuses to allow him to destroy a planet, so he decides to ask the omnidimentional creator about the idiosyncrasies of his existence where it is revealed that he is just simply a puppet.

You missed out the part where he wakes up in a coffee shop and we realise it was all a daydream

This album has so much depth to it, I haven't been this excited about re-listening to a record since Pink Floyd's The Wall. There is so much going on, it's silly, overblown, funny, touching, and sad all at once. The bit where it's revealed to Ziltoid that he's a puppet (literal or metaphorical?) is just...well, it blows my mind, maaan!

I FUCKING LOVE LOVE LOVE this album....I did notice that on the cd, some of the lyrics are different than the downloaded version...During Omnidimensional Creator on the downloaded version, you hear him say "You gotta chill, man" but on the cd, I didn't hear that....and during Solar Winds (at the end) on the cd, he says Phooey....double phooey, but on the downloaded version, he says Phooey...INDEED phooey.

Just found that interesting.

Maybe it's just me, but so far I find the dialogue and narration a bit distracting in contrast to the music. It's not like Punky Bruster where you can just skip the narrative at the end of each song if you feel like it. I've only listened to it once, though, so it probably needs more time to sink in.

maybe he left it out intentionally so even the people who peaked on the spoilers had some surprise at the end

After a while the dialogue and narratives will just become part of the music. First couple of times you'll have to pay attention to it because you want to know the story, but after that it seems to move to the background more and more, and you'll find the music amazing :)

I just want to throw in my 2 cents about the album. I got it 2 days ago (Melbourne) and I've been far beyond impressed with it. It is a brilliant synthesis of everything Dev has done and tried to do over the last 10 years, and it is done effortlessly. I almost feel that if Dev were to throw in the towel on making music right now, Ziltoid would be the perfect swansong to his career. It is simply phenomenal. On the issue of the storyline, for me it's very obvious that it's about being an ordinary nobody who longs to be more significant and more powerful. This idea takes place within the context of a guy who's working in a coffee shop who begins to daydream about power. This, and the aroma of coffee around him, obviously merge in his head to create the idea of a being of incredible power (even omniscient) who is on a quest for coffee. The whole storyline of the album probably takes place in his head over the space of a few minutes before he is abruptly interrupted by the boss and made to go back to work. Could it also be about Devin's memories of being a kitchen hand and working in a similar environment with similar longings for power and significance. Jesus, don't we all?
Brilliant work Dev.

And just one more thing: I think this album has the best metal anthem on it that I've heard since "I've got - no more - goddamn - regrets!" (FF, '95). I fucking got goosebumps yesterday imagining myself at a gig where suddenly the audience start to bellow repeatedly "YOU ARE A PUP-PET! YOU ARE A PUP-PET!" That is metal genius as far as I'm concerned. The reason it is metal genius is because the guy who works in the coffee shop, like Ziltoid, is a puppet for a corporation. He is nothing. I think many of us feel like this in life, that we have no real control over the events of the earth, rather we simply float through being manipulated by the powers that be - like puppets. And this is the genius of the line "WE ARE ALL PUP-PETS!" Whether you feel this or not, there are people out there who do and I think Dev has brilliantly captured this feeling and used Ziltoid as a very intelligent metaphor.
Congrats again Dev on an amazing effort!

I must say that the storyline fits much better after watching all of the podcasts and reading the additional narrative in the booklet.

And "Solar Winds"...holy shit...I'm speechless over how good this song is...
