Heya all!

The point of this topic is to list all Japan-only bonuses.

So I just got back from two weeks of holiday in Japan. I didn't think ahead but I got the greatest idea when I stumbled upon on Tower records in Tokyo to check up on all my favorite bands' Japan-only records. Lo and Behold there was a slot for SYL and Dev. The Japanese titles were kind enough to display all bonuses we Europeans were missing (in Latin alphabet) so it was easy enough to just fuck off the budget and fill the basket with Dev and other stuff and worry about the Mastercard bill later.

Anyway, what I got was a bunch of SYL stuff and just one solo project album (Ziltoid) with Japan only bonuses. I saw Synchestra and Ki with no bonuses so I did not buy those. I went to another 5 record stores during my trip hoping to find Japan only Infinity, Ocean Machine or Physicist but it was not to be.

The point of this topic is to let me and others know the difference between US, EU and Japan only releases (SYL and solo). Also to list what I found in Japan-only releases.

BTW I'm from Finland listening to Dev since the release of Physicist and suddenly getting my keyboard layout changed from Fin to UK during this post.

So, bonuses what I got were as follows:

SYL:

CITY
¨¨¨¨
Centipede (Japanese Bonus Track)
Home Nucleonics ('96 demo)
Headrhoid (Gunt demo)
Detox ('96 demo)
AAA ('96 demo)
(Detox video enhancement)
Different layout, different pic on disc and on the leaflet discription of how City came to be and how life was back then.

ALIEN
¨¨¨¨¨

Zodiac (Melvins cover version)
Love? (extended version)
In the rainy season (Live)

THE NEW BLACK
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨

C:ENTER:###
Video clip "Wrong Side"

NON-SYL
ZILTOID THE OMNISCIENT
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨

Message from Ziltoid
Travelling Salesman (demo)
Another Road (demo)

Most of the Japan-only discs had a separate leaflet translating the lyrics in kanji-letters.
If there's more bonuses on other Japan-only releases, please list here. I couldn't find them during my two weeks.

PS. In Finland I've gotten versions of Terria with bonus disc including: Universal, live footage from Tokyo 1999, audio commentary on the making of Terria
Physicist with audio CD enhancement (probably in every version)
Accelerated Evolution with bonus disc Project EKO
Synchestra with Safe Zone DVD
Ziltoid the Omniscient with: 1.Don't know why 2. Travelling Salesman 3. Multimedia section: Guitar instructional & Ziltoid webisode skits
although all I get is 5 episodes of Ziltoid skits and 1 video of "guitar rig". Please help me here. I seem to not be able to play "Don't know why" or "Travelling salesman".

Damn... You could make a one, huge album with all these bonus songs. Centipede is my favourite.

Japan is very sushi.

I've been in Japan for 3 years now. I gotta tell you, I love getting the Japanese version of CDs. I have yet to find ANY "Ki" albums here, but 1)I'm in a remote and rural part of Japan and 2) I've only gone to a few record stores.

You pay more for your CDs here, but it's usually worth it. (To me, anyway.)

Kamelot did make one with all their b-sides. Never know what could happen.

Usually those are never really albums, though, and are record company bullshit.

It's so true, these days...

Fear Factory made also b-side album and it was not very quality move from them, too.

Even members of the band said, it was not excactly what they wanted to do and that was propably one of the main reasons, why they didn't wanted to continue their work with Roadrunner Records.

The Ziltoid Special Edition isn't a Japanese exclusive, I bought it in Camden Highstreet Virgin Megastore!

The InsideOut edition of "Ki" included a lyric sheet with a printed autograph.

The City record with the bonus tracks is the worldwide re-release from 07. However it was a Japanese album they first showed up on, cos they were bonus tracks on the Japanese version of No Sleep over a decade ago.

Thank you all for your responses. Interesting, it seems my Japan-only editions are not all Japan-only editions. Well, at least they are different editions than what I got in Finland with some of them having been released under Avalon Marquee Records. AND some even FILLED with kanji-letters, woohoo!

Yeah, you're right. It says 2007 Century Media. In my shopping frenzy I didn't notice that. Anyway, it's a different version from what I already had so I'm happy.

My No Sleep 'Till Bedtime has bonus tracks for Japan and Centipede, Euro version. Did the Japanese version really have all the demo tracks that later appeared on the 2007 City re-release? I'm just trying to get this right.

Also, anyone having luck with the Insideout release of Ziltoid with two discs? The bonus disc is listed with 1. Don't Know Why 2. Travelling Salesman, and I just don't think they are really on there. Can't get them to play no matter what.

What I got says it's manufactured by Avalon Marquee Records, Japan (www.marquee.co.jp). 1 cd. Comes with a translation for Kanji-reading listeners.
The Inside Out special edition with 2 cds I got here from Finland.

Got that. I should've checked who released the version I DIDN'T buy whilst in Japan.

There's still a lot to be said about bonuses throughout the years and throughout the whole catalogue so keep em' coming. Thanks.
