Fame

I was thinking today how I'd fucking love for Ki, and the rest of the albums this year, to make a ton of money for Devin, and potentially bring him to a much greater level of fame than SYL ever did.

Then I got to thinking (trying not to sound arrogant here), would I (or anyone, or Devin) really want fame? You'd have to put up with the media hounding your ass, fairweather fans, and (I think) you'd lose the personal connection you have with fans.

Any thoughts? Personally, I wouldn't really want fame. Fuck the money, I'd rather have a sort of niche fame like Devin.

For Devin, I wish that everyone who likes his music would just buy the albums and merch, see his shows, so he can continue doing what he (and we) love so very much. I only wish that if he eventually does a tour, that he could get the money I'd spend on travel (flights, train, whatever) too instead of just the concert ticket.

He's said before the idea of mainstream acceptance makes him nauseous. I would imagine it wouldn't be nice to have people prying and poking at your personal life. I'd love to see the guy shift millions and live comfy and be able to tour and just do what he wants to do. It'd be cool if this series of albums could really propel him further around the world and make him tons of cash. So everybody, buy lots of merch! :D

I wouldn't want fame for my families' sake. That sounds like an awful hassle.

As far as money, I wish nothing but the best for the Townsend family, as I, too, know the stress that comes

with mouths to feed. :)

Reading that Devin worries about supporting his family, mows the lawn, ect. makes Him easy to identify with as a human.

A human that makes immortal music. I wonder: If He had Metallica type funds, would he make the same kind of music he does know?

No way to know, I suppose, but i try to support his work any way I can, in hopes that He has the means to continue, and I know others

will do the same. He means alot to us, obviously. :)

Yeah man...as long as I can keep doing my thing I'm good.

They pay you well to be famous I think, but what is the money truly for?

I would like to make a decent living and kind of ride the fringe.

Thats one of the things I admire about you Dev, your heart is in the right place and you've got a decent set of morals!

I think the closest you have come to fame is those Osbournes commercials you did! (which were actually really cool)
