I believe not. The Tom Jones cover was scrapped during the recording of the Alien album because it didn't fit the "flow" of the album.
Dev may suddenly feel like doing one, one day. But as far as I know, he's never really considered it.

I doubt Dev would do covers of already perfect songs/bands (Meshuggah etc.)

Its balancing on a fine wire a little too much.

His cover of Room 429 was awesome. It has a whole new sound to it, compared to the original, but you still know they're the same song. Its a reeaally well executed cover. But covering modern, well known bands - Unless almost changing the genre of the track (Pop to Metal, Metal to Folk etc.) - its not really worth the effort, and theres too much room for bad criticism.

It'd still be interesting, and i'd still love to hear them if he did. But i doubt he'd do it.

I may be wrong...

I totally understand the desire to hear Devin's take on other music, but I'm not sure why he would need to take from other musicians' libraries when he can create such a huge body of his own work. Devin is one of the most creative musicians in the world today, and he never seems to have a lack of NEW music for us to hear. I would much rather get a new release of Devin's music than an album of his covers...Devin is too good to be a cover artist. :guitar:

I'd love to hear him cover "Black Light Machine" by Frost*. I think if anyone could make that song better, it would be Dev, providing he kept it optimistic and maybe removed the sillier keyboard solo part or turned it into a Vai-ish guitar solo.

I hate the whole concept of doing cover versions.

the cover of natural science is actually pretty sweet, though the actual cd it's on is really quite lame in my opinion.
