BM is important I think, and it supports the scene...I lived at Bori's house for a few months and he's a great guy who puts his whole heart into it...yeah it's a bit hard when some things are taken out of context, but I think that kind of goes with the territory...Kerrang was good for that as well in the 90's.
You do have to watch yourself, and that makes speaking out a little treacherous...but again, as toxic as it can be to some folks, most of us go there from time to time...and I'll bet 90% of metal bands do as well.
I like to think that the things BM puts up are dedicated posts intended as announcements as opposed to contributions to an ongoing discussion, that's when things get misconstrued.
Again, BM is a pretty important forum in my opinion...yeah it's brutal, but I guess so is metal.

Nothing wrong with Blabbermouth itself, it's just there are herds of youtube-grade trolls in comment section. Well, they can be funny if you have strong stomach

You can always count on Blabbermouth for two things - useful updates about what's going on, followed by a thousand comments describing just how shitty the band are

If you develop an ear for sounds that are musical it is like developing an ego. You begin to refuse sounds that are not musical and that way cut yourself off from a good deal of experience. - John Cage

Blabbermouth is the best music news site on the net. The dark side of the success of the site is that it needs controversy. That attracts people, unfortunately.
What I truly dislike about the site are the reviewers. They're some of the worst out there. Shit, Keith Bergman had me banned from the site because I called him Keith Turdman and kept pointing out all his mistakes and lies within his reviews. Haha! Who the hell gets banned from Blabbermouth?
Oh, and I also hate all the spyware/malware that the place tries to unload on you. If you don't have your shit sinched tight, like my work PC, for instance, you're going to get all kinds of unwanted shit from that site and it's advertisers. Outside of that, though, the site is excellent. I check it multiple times a day.

Interesting to hear, man. Kind of confirms my suspicions regarding musicians and other "public" figures viewing forums.
If I were in a position that placed me in the public eye, I don't think I would shut myself off entirely from forums and the like either. I regularly read, and have started contributing to a sports forum, bigfooty.com. Like BM it can be incredibly brutal, but can also be hilarious and informative. Some football clubs have actively discouraged their players from viewing it. The thought is that it might have a detrimental effect on their state of mind.
But, as you say, these things support the subject they're based on, give a voice to fans (who can be as witty and interesting as they can be vicious and ignorant) and provide a great source of info.
Ya just gotta take it all with a grain of salt!
JuZ wrote:You got BANNED from Blabbermouth!? That's awesome! Quite an achievement actually, given what's often said there, and something to be proud of.
Yes. Not sure exactly why, though. I never picked on people, or said racist, hateful things. All I know is that I called that stupid reviewer Keith Turdman, while pointing out parts of a review that were completely incorrect (not the first time), and the next day I was banned. Haha. Not just banned, but IP banned! From home, at least. I can post at work, and am now known as McTurdly.
