Devin is an amazing guitarist and we as his fans know this well... but some people dont even know he plays the damn guitar.. pisses me off lol
I think that its about time Devin showed how amazing he really is on his next record! I cant wait.
Anymore news on the new record would be great, i remembered he said he might be recording in May or somthing.

It`s true, just listen to songs like Wrong Side or Away. I think he doesn`t get enough credit as a guitar player.

Yes, Devin really is under-rated, not only for his guitar playing, but as a musician also. Or at least here in Finland. Or at least among the teenagers

But I really don't want Devin to do anything too technical music. I mean, his music is f'n awesome as it is, simple and beautiful. He doesn't need to prove anything to anyone If I want to listen to technical playing, I listen to DragonForce, Yngwie, etc and laugh my head off. Technical playing is actually more "funny" than "awesome", I think

I think at this point Devin is doing what he wants to do, whatever he feels is right and I very much doubt that he feels as if he has to prove anything to anyone anymore (in his position I'd feel that way, but that's one guy's opinion). Regardless of whether the new music is technical or not, its what he is happy with and I think as an artist thats very important, I mean if you were in a position to put out whatever music you wanted to you'd put out what you're happiest with right? So I think we should appreciate whatever great gifts of music we are given for what they are (or may be). As long as Devin is happy with it then its good enough for me.

He doesn't need to play 10 thousands notes per second to prove he's a great musician that's all
His music makes you really feel like it's alive and that's what's important.

I read somewhere that even though Devin can shred, he doesn't care for it that much.

This wasn't a quote from Devin himself or anything, so I can't verify. I've seen him do it in concert footage before (and certain songs like Wrong Side of course) and he rocks.

How could you even begin to compare them? They're two completely different musicians!

I was going to say something, but quickly realised it was pointless and I'd just be dragged into a flame war. Laiho has chops, but can't songwrite or sing for toffee.
