Am I also correct in suggesting ...

... that Synchestra is Dev's greatest vocal performance to date?

I'm extremely impressed.

Oh and Pixillate is brilliant, but you already know that :D

I totally agree with you about Synchestra being his best vocal performance ever, it was one of my first observations when I heard the album. It covers all the factors that make Devs voice unique, in a brilliant way.

I don't know about best, but it's definetly somewhere at the top of the list.

And yes, Pixilate is genious.

Nope. While it is massive, his best is and always will be on Sex and Religion. After that I'd say Terria probably has his next best vocals.

Well I wasn't actually including Sex & Religion on my list. That's obviously a mile ahead of anything else (touching tongues is stunning). But since then I've never heard him use viocal technique the way he does on Synchestra. Triumph is a good example.

Maybe Vai is bringing it out in him?

Although I love the vocals on Sex and Religion, I think he is getting better in the DTB and SYL. It was just a different kind of music.

I think I agree though, Synchestra does have one amazing vocal performance. It is stunning. But I like AE too, so I think thats a solid second.

I agree that it is potentially his "best" vocal performance...but not my favourite. The one thing I think is lacking is some of those moments of Devin's voice jsut dripping with raw emotion...maybe that's just me though

I got a little of that too Fragility, Dev seems to be staying on his feet on this record instead of getting carried away in emotions. Perhaps that's why I come back to Terria more than Synchestra?

I do love it though, and Dev's more rocking, less emotional tones are still amazing.
