The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

Here it is:

Well, it started like this: Dark Tranquility couldn't make it to the show in Raleigh, NC, and Dev opened with this line:

"We hope our rock fufills your quotient of roll", or something to that effect. At any rate, it was a great opener.

Now, I may have forgotten exactly which songs went in what sequence, (I have a crappy memory for sequence, but I know I have all the songs they played memorized)

Truth
Regulator
Storm
Deadhead
Gaia
Pixillate (The clean part, where the woman sings was sung by Dev, and it was awesome, of course.)
Life
Earth Day
Triumph
Vampolka
Vampira

Throughout the show, Devin kept commenting on positive the crowd was receiving the band. Does the DTB, et al normally have a lot of problems with negative crowds? I believe, at one point, Dev even mentioned thinking it was strange that no one had shouted out any sort of heckling comments. Whatever, it was an awesome show. Ryan, I don't know many people who use match grip that can swing, but you can SWING, man. As for Dev....the voice was on all 10s last night. Clean, growly, screaming....all in top form. As for the rest of the band; they, too were in top form. I never realized how complicated the songs were to play, and they did it all without a single mistake. Not that THAT matters, but it is impressive. Ryan beats the CRAP out of his drums...the guy is friggin physical with the skins.

Hope that helped.....

I am so jealous. I want to see the DTB so bad. Triumph would have made my day. Did he do any attempt on the solo yet?

I bet that this is the set that they will play at the Jaxx show without Opeth. Seeing as Dark Tranquillity missed this date, I assume that they allowed Devin and the gang to play a longer set. Maybe. Good set list for sure.

I saw the first show in Vancouver, the setlist was the same, except for Bad Devil at the end. Vampolka/Vampira were the encore songs followed by Bad Devil. He didn't try the Triumph solo the night I saw them

Sooo any one at the Norva show last night? We got there kinda late and all I got to hear was Regulator, Giaia, Pixelate, and Vampolka/Vampira. I'm thinking they probably played a shorter set than that first show because of Dark Tranquility actually making it. I hope I didn't miss all that much because they sounded fucking killer. Dev's vocals were AMAZING. Best live vocal performance I've ever hear. DT and Opeth were awsome too, of course.

Why would he even try the solo? Wouldn't that be ultimately cheesey? I think so...

The solo is a Steve feature and to try to do it live would be just begging for criticism. Not that he couldn't play it, it's just that people would be looking for fault. "Yeah, it was good but he missed this or that and it really didn't sound the same". It can't sound the same, they have different styles.

But that's just me...

Maybe 'he didn't play the solo' would be better

Ahh man how I wish I could see DTB on this tour...but such is my luck, Opeth isn't even coming back for this tour, let alone DTB.

Oh well, I'll go listen to "Sychestra" and wallow in my self pity...

Orrr... What if people said, "I saw DTB last night. They played "Triumph" last night and Dev did the whole solo! OMG, it was better than even Vai did it. Dev shreds! I don't even know why he let Vai do the solo on the album in the first place! Probably just being nice to an aging guitarrist."

It could happen.
