I know a lot of you hold a very high respect for Devin and his music, but which of you consider DTB (or SYL) to be your own, personal, favourite band?
Mine is probably still Type O Negative after about five years.

It's always tough tp pick between my top few bands or albums or songs, its very difficult to exclude anything from that shortlist (which picking a single favourite always feels like to me). They all fulfill different roles in my life and provide me with different benefits. The DT/DTB albums are those I feel the biggest emotional connection to though, so on that personal level, they are really my favourite band.
I will say however, that Devin is my biggest musical inspiration and essentially my hero as far as making music goes.

Easily my favorite musician for the past 6 or 7 years has been Devin.
And after such a long time I can't help but love the music more and more with each new experience I have with each cd released. He's played a massive role in my life musically, and I have nothing but an amazing awe for the power and feeling his music holds.

At the moment, I think DTB is my favourite band. But it's only a snapshot of this moment. Being a regular visitor here (a day I haven't posted here is a day I haven't lived

) definately helps, as does the hype of a new album.
That's why my focus might be shifting a bit to SYL in the near future, since they are working on a new album now. And Opeth has been my favourite band a while ago (although Ghost Reveries ended up disappointing me).

Choosing a favorite band (or author, movie, etc) doesn't feel entirely right to me, cause taste changes constantly. But if I absolutely had to, it'd be Devin in all his incarnations. I've gotten so much out of his music the past five years, I really can't compare that to anything else.

It all depends on my mood at the time. Faith No More is my all time favorite band, but DTB has been, what I feel, along with Secret Chiefs 3, the band to put out the most consistently good stuff the last few years.

I don't have one single favourite band. There's different bands for different moods and also, you just can't compare certain bands because they too different but equally good in their own 'field'.
But my favourites:
Tool
Radiohead
Nine Inch Nails
Einstürzende Neubauten
Dev
Patton

Yea, all Devy's stuff definitely plays the biggest role in my life because all of it feels very personal. So yea, he's my favorite artist right now.
In no real order:
Devin Townsend
Porcupine Tree
Oceansize
Opeth
Dredg
SYL
King Crimson
Yes
Jethro Tull
Pink Floyd
Devy definitely is the favorite right now, closely followed by PTree.
