When did you discover Devin's music ?

Just as the question ask

There's a similar thread, about which was your first album, for this one you should choose which period it was (so if you bought OM when AE was released, choose AE).
Precision is not that important, just choose around which album you first heard of Devin, whether it was just released or not, if you there was no release just when you heard of him, choose the latest one^^.

And if someone says before Vai, well... BLah :P

I added Synchestra so people can vote in a few weeks^^

(what a dumbass... SYL and AE were inverted, not that it's so important... And the years are from the HDR page, my copy of OM is ©1997 so I don't know)

I bought Terria in 2003 i believe. I had no idea who Devin Townsend was but i had an amazon gift card so I figured what the heck? Best random purchase I've ever made and will ever make :-)

City - saw the video for "Detox" and my brain just went "Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck". I then got that album, then caught up and have basically never looked back.

Even after all that time the "Detox" vid still does the same thing to me......

Less than a minute into the AWESOME opening song on Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing. 8)

I'd heard Dev with Vai just prior, and was so-so about it, but this...

This hooked me forever. :D

HAARHT... impulse buy about 4 years ago. Its the best way to get into Dev, I think. That little story about the bear is so bizarre... I love it :D

It was actually the Ayreons 'The Human Equation' that got me into him. I knew of him but never botherd to check his music out. When I heard his vocals on 'THE' I was blown away and became obssessed. :)

Same here! That also happened to also be my first Ayreon album...
