They are both worth getting, though I prefer the songs on the second version. The first one however is worth getting simply to hear the song "Ocean Machines" which is worth the price of the whole disc.

Both albums have a selection of really cool tracks, and a few not so cool tracks.

I'd have to reccomend the first one too, although I enjoy both of them very much. The first one I just found to be all around better though. Both of them have the song "Roadkill" on them, so you can't go wrong with either.

Avoid expensive antics, save money, get both at the same time.

First on has better songs I think, but second one has older songs, and really shows the beginning of Devin's musical career.

I liked the first. The second one was.....forgetable.

The second has some awesome songs too though....in particular the funk-tastic 'Thick Stock' and also the really quite unusual 'Ernies Room'. 'Soft' and 'Cold' are awesome too.

Both discs are a bit of a mixed bag though, so thats why I think it is best to get both of them and make your own mind up.

Blazingmonga said all that needed to be said.

No.1 has 'Ocean Machines' on it and is therefore the most important purchase you will make this year

That's a dumb comment! For years Devin said he would never release the Noisescapes material, or anything from that period of time. We, the fans, asked, begged him for years to release that shit! He finally did, even including pre-Noisescapes material!! He did this FOR THE FANS!

Forgettable is an asinine way to describe Ass-Sordid II. It is in no way forgettable. Yes, Ass-Sordid I has the better songs, but that in no way means Ass-Sordid II has bad songs, they're just not as developed. I think both albums are great and suggest getting both of them! Any real fan of Devin's music will love hearing the early material even if the songs aren't mind-blowingly great!

Well put, I completely agree!

Although the songs are old and rough in some ways, you can see Devin shine through all that. Definately worth hearing.

Yep, Dev has said that it was simply a case of it not fitting and I guess he felt it was the most expendable in regards to the feel of the album.
