i didn´t care much for SYL or Devin Townsend solo releases until i understood what kind of a guy he was underneath it all. and especially watching later interviews, i really appreciate the human-ness in the guy. the fact that devin isn´t a "superstar rock god" is part of why i can really appreciate the incredible music he makes. i have a tendency to enjoy music coming from the hearts of the everyday people around me. that´s what true art is, isn´t it?
devin is just a guy that makes music and likes doing it. and i like the music he makes. that´s about all there is to it. seems like a nice guy to hang with too, and i like his closeness to his fans. i see he actually posts on his own forum, which is rare for artists today.
oh, and this is my first post here, so hi and all that. i was sitting around listening to ziltoid, when i came to remember that Devy has a forum, and i was like "shit, i´m the ultimate forum geek, why haven´t i signed up there yet?"
so i did. yay.
edit: i just realized i made it sound like i disliked his stuff before i found out who he was. not the case, of course. i just couldn´t submit myself to it and take it in. it´s like i was listening from a distance, passively, ya know? anyways, i love it to hell and back now, and it´s a big influence in my own music
