I take it Dev means, heavy but more serious...less ziltoid more ocean machine...in attitude...maybe, not sure.

I think he keeps a feather in his back pocket expressly for this purpose.

Yeah sorry, I'm making plans now

You guys seem to be really supportive through this time where I needed to clean my brain and body up and get to the root of 'who I am'

What have I found?

That being sober and participating in reality is incredibly intense and unrelenting...so that where the music has gone....and I'm as surprised as anyone.

I'm taking time making my next move, but it's going to be a doozy...I just need to work some shit out and make sure family is set up first...I've had births and deaths recently and it is all lots to process.

I thought I would end up blowing into a pan flute and playing a zither, but it seems 'hippies' are the most hypocritical, bitter pricks there are... angry about shit they're paralyzed to do anything about.

Ziltoid was metaphoric about drugs in alot of ways...I've been clouded for 12 years, and time will show that record to be pretty important I think.

I see some folks supporting my work right now...I needed to make money while I figured shit out, so I made some records and produced some bands...cool people to, almost everybody I've worked with...
It's funny, SYL and DTB have been great, they leave me alone and know I've had a personal thing to get through...Gene has been really supportive....same with the rest of the guys...the guys that MATTER...It's funny to see a bunch of people who are not nearly as important yell at me over the internet about how I 'owe them'.

I have two years worth of powerful(!) music stored up, and you can bet you'll hear it in whichever way makes the most sense...so I'm just taking my time and not rushing anything. I'm 3 years CLEAN, and feeling strong...and that's not a moral thing either, I'm not anti drug or booze, it just made ME weak and vulnerable. Just know that when I DO say something again, I want it to be ABSOLUTELY accurate and unclouded.

...oh, did I mention unrelenting?

Again, to those who have supported, Thanks.

Thanks for the update, lately I've been filling in gaps in my Status Quo collection.

I'm really looking forward to 'it' whenever that is.

Thanks for being so open and honest! Also congrats on the whole cleanliness shizzle nizzle! I just discovered your music last December and in a way it helped me rediscover music. The hair stood up on the back of my neck and I got goosebumps all over. It hadn't happened in a long time and I was begining to wonder if I'd destroyed music for myself by surrounding my life with it. Too much of a good thing. Your albums felt like a warm blanket. I can sleep to Alien! I haven't felt that emotion from an artist in years. Inspirational stuff.

Thanks!

(If your looking for money you should produce the new Dream Theater album. They hit the studios in September and they need a good kick up the arse to set them on course again! )

Cheers for the update, I'm getting steadily more interested in hearing the new stuff, although I'm still discovering a lot of the DTB/SYL back catalogue

Great update, Dev!

Of course we are looking forward for a new release... But personally speaking, I have no problem in waiting 2 years more for new music. Because I'm sure of it... When it comes, it will make me fell alive, like every one or you albums.

I'm totally agree with "Ziltoid"... I think this album is a really important one, and it's definitively in my top three of favourites. And after hearing that it's a drugs metaphor, I will hear it with renewed interest, for sure.

Thanks for you honest speaking... And I desire you a lot of success in all this things you have in you hands right now!

Greetings from Spain!

José Antonio.

Life is indeed unrelenting :) But it is always good to learn who your real friends are in the journey and to figure out that the only person you 'owe' anything to is, ultimately, yourself.

The rest of us will look forward to whatever comes along in the way of music when it happens. In the meantime park your bum somewhere comfy and enjoy! :D

thanks dev. you dont owe us shit. when it all boils down, you release records because YOU want to not because you owe us anything. you have said it before. so take your time figure shit out and do whatever the fuck you want. i can go back to diludeing myself in my little world that consists of trying to figure out devlab and your other albums. (cuz god knows i need as much time as posible to do that.)

so thanks for puting it in perspecitve for me (us) dev.

and for the record the thread tital i think is rude. like i said you dont owe us shit. its on the contrary we owe you for brightening our lives with your music.

so go do whatever you need to do to feel better. its not like were going anywere soon. whenever you decide to release the new album is when we will get it. no sooner.

so im going to retreat to listening to the old albums and disecting them.

or i could just fuck off

Dev fucking rules. I'm glad he told people basically to shut up about "owing them music"

Right on man.
