Shame you're ditching the Explorer shape, Devin. Personally I like it better than the V, which is a bit cliche. But maybe that's the point.

How about its shaped however you feel is metal at the time, like you said i think you should wait till your in a metal place of mind before you start on that one.
To be honest id rather wait until whenever you feel ready rather then rushing into it and not being happy with the end result.. or not caring.

Oh oh oh! It should be one of those big ton weights on cartoon! They are made of lots of metal!

Yeah I'll shut up now.
I recently got myself a Squier Tele (I have modified it to accept humbuckers) and it's amazing.
Also the first guitar I've had with a maple fretboard.
It's great for the chunky stuff. Really into Fenders at the mo. I prefer the scale. I used to be a Gibson flag waver (I still love them...amazing instruments) but I've been more mellow recently...playing more Gilmourish stuff...ghosts coming through specific guitars again...
I also have my own "frankencaster" made from numerous parts of other guitars, but it's cool because I can modify it to my own needs.
And I'm too cheap to buy the real thing

But the whole general metal look is about not being happy and not caring

Have the guitar body look like a bored little puppy.

But...does it have that strat sound? You know the really bluesy kind of twangy sound?
Hell is waiting outside beyond these walls. It won’t save your soul to panic at this point.

That third one is actually quite elegant- I like it a lot. But the top neck has no pickups, am I right? And then of course there's Batio- light-speed wankery for the win!
