The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

I've not started it yet. I want to be in the metal zone 'so to speak' when I work on it, or it will just end up being a wierd piece of shit.

What I'm thinking is an oversized rhodes style v with a mahogany body, carved maple top, 7 string, reverse headstock, ebody board, no markers, glow in the dark side markers, active pickups, black hardware, flat black finish.

That's in a month or two though, had to get the strat out of my system first...

Basically sounds like a guitar I thought up a while ago...Except the one I wanted had only 1 pickup. Hope that one is affordable, because I would really love to have a 7 string V.

The amp is only six knobs? Bass, Mid, Treble, Gain, Volume, Reverb? Or like Clean Volume or something. Also the pair of power tubes are they EL34s, 6L6s, KT88s, or what? Any clues as to what the circuits / pre-amps are based off of.

Oh and on the six-string Melted looking Strat-Jaguar shaped one. Will it have a pickguard or all the pickups mounted direct to the wood?

Man I am excited to see some pictures of these things from your NAMM showcase!

1st Stage: Mullard Reissue 12AX7/ECC83
2nd Stage: Sovtek 12AX7 LPS (Long Plate Special)
3rd Stage: Mullard Reissue 12AX7/ECC83
Output Tubes: Tung-Sol Reissue KT66 (46 MA Matched pair within 1 Ma)
Voltage Rectifier: 5AR4/GZ34 (NOS Mullard)

master, bass, mid (with modern pull) , treble, Drive (for channel 2), master (pull presence boost)
Auto bias
Slave out
FX loop.

Based off of bassman, trainwreck ideas, channel 2 is metal...more marshall than mesa, but a mesa scoop with the pull. Still in progress. The clean sound is like a big scoop of ice cream. The clean is the key, starting to refine channel 2 this week.

...I think v30's in the cab.

The amp is still in progress, still being refined.

-No pickgaurd, mounted directly into the wood.

I'm so fucking psyched for this amp! (And for Ki and DoaC, not to mention the show!) :D

Thanks, and all the best!

Oh my... that sounds like a very sexy instrument. Flat black finish is always classy - I wouldn't expect anything less from Mr. Townsend. :D

Maybe someday - a Devin Townsend signature bass!!! Since you are quite the bass player as well.

pfft yeah right. Keep dreaming, Catlin. Still, I like the thought of that, it would sound massive.

Dev...I honestly would love to see you introduce something like your custom ESP telecaster...I think the same one you have on your Infinity cover is the one you had in your "Planet Waves Guitar Demo" video? I could be wrong.....you know....for those of us who aren't very "V" friendly.

But the rest of the new gear sounds sick so far....just gotta get you to release your own Digitech vocal stomp pedal "Instant Choir of Dev" and we'll be set. ;)

In honesty, the V doesn't mean shit to me at this point. The strat is where it's at.
