Thank you for that. :D

I wonder how sick he is getting of having to repeat himself over and over again.

Seems like it would get a little old, but it's part of the territory!

Thanks BrunoN - good article. After reading all these interviews, I'm happy for him that he kicked the weed and booze - I had no idea it was doing him so much harm :(

It'll do that to you. From my experiences, a lot of people who smoke weed get incredibly irritable fairly easily.

From my expirience, I have never been and addict, I smoke hardly twice a month and I've never felt irritable. Almost all my friends smoke but no one is irritable (and some smoke all day long). Only one doesn't like to smoke cause it makes him feel a little desmotivated (the day after). I think that booze can make you more irritable.

I've also just listened to the interview, and I must admit that The Dev making a musical is something I always hoped he'd do, as, being a fan of musicals myself (especially West Side Story but certainly not The Sound of Music), I certainly noticed such an influence since almost the start of his musical output, and I've always pondered how interesting it would be if he did so. I'm not saying he has to do it, but I'm certainly saying I'm intrigued by the idea, and that I'd also be certain to drag some of my "musical-inclined" mates along to see what they thought, and drag a few of my "MET-AHL!" mates along to try and open their heads. Assuming none of them bothered to come, I'd just buy myself a ticket a few times, and nab the DVD if it ever came out to enjoy and try to find myself in the crowd.

Still, loads of interesting points, and, as prevoiusly stated, I'm glad that he's finally disregarding what his fans want and concentrating on what he wants to do, and I'm rather sure we're all pretty much unanimous in our decision that not only is it a good idea, but that it's working for us as well!

If they're not, then they're obviously not the fans you need. The whole thing you were saying about touring vs. campfire? Well, I'd certainly vote for the latter. Pay the rent, man, but don't sacrifice yourself for the sake of megabucks. We're all learning to live with less, and I think that's what we, as a species, need to learn at the moment. "Ki" was heavier than I assumed it needed to be, and I, for one, am willing to wait as long as is necessary for the rest of the project, as one should not rush art if one wishes to complete it to its fullest potential. Although, having said that, if the rest of DTP never sees the light of day due to you deciding to move into different territories, then I'd be glad to purchase "Ki" instead of the boxset if that proves to be your swansong, glad in the knowledge that you're not chained, to paraphrase the late, great, Bill Hicks, to sucking Satan's cock for that black wyrm jizzm. :chain:

Anywho, perhaps I let my usual verbosity run away with me, but regardless, be excellent to each other.

And party on, dude! :guitar:

I just wanted to echo and reiterate the importance of Ziltoid as an album. Hell, it's the only one I've purchased twice from my dear departed Virgin Megastore that I used to work at. In fact, The Greys connected with me in a way that only Life did after my first year of college. I mean, manly tears level of connection. I don't mean that in a way that it's like it's a total worshiping of Devin as a deity statue-form golem that I worship by making goat-blood sacrifices, though that would be awesome. Devin's music has just always had a kind of a way of pacifying the background that goes on in my generally chaotic life. I mean Ziltoid came out around the time my only really serious ex-gf broke up with me, and the lyrics kinda strike a chord in a way that has many personal connotations that I don't necessarily feel that comfortable sharing right now. So much so, I'm developing a new tattoo with The Greys as kinda being the central theme to the art (though not entirely, I'm kinda more reaching into that period of emotion to develop it). I've felt like an Alien myself, and I can see the personal connection for Dev.

Honestly, if Ziltoid were just Hyperdrive, Color Your World, and The Greys it'd be valid as one of the strongest EPs ever done, but to discount the brilliance of Solar Winds and other songs on the album would be almost an insult to the material.

Devin, the only anti-sentiment I can think of for Ziltoid is that it wasn't Strapping enough for your more cro-magnon fanbase, which I'm admittedly part of as well.

Ranking the material is essentially difficult, because even the ill-treated by fans Physicist has some pretty damn brilliant moments, mostly in Namaste and Planet Rain.

Agreed, although I got enough of a strapping-esque vibe from the album to satisfy me. When you get that tattoo, please show it. I am interested in tattoos (with meaning). Especially when they're influenced by Devin's music. I have a dtp tattoo, but I think a tattoo inspired by a particular song would be way more interesting.

I hope Dev chooses Mikael Akerfeldt as one of the growlers for Deconstruction. He`s not touring in 2010 (only handful of Bloodbath shows though) :)

Yeh surely he has to! he know's him, I assume they are friends.

Cool interview that.
