Ziltoid is actually one of my least favourites.

I do love Colour Your World though.

I just didn't like it as much, cause the vocals seemed rather different, and I dunno. I just didn't really engage with it much. I love the concept of it all. But musically, I just didn't really get into it.

It's just that Ziltoid has a quality that I can't put my finger on, something that was present in Devin's earlier work but seemed to disappear in later albums.

Indeed.

Ziltoid flows like OM... it takes you on a journey and it feels really complete from beggining to end, while the DTB albums feel a little more like a collection of songs to me and there`s the few extras tagged on the end that don`t seem like they are part of the big picture. Love em all though.

Ziltoid is a brilliant album, probably the album i listen to most from Devin these days.

This confused me a fuckton.

from the ziltoid/ki/thingy interview
After these four records, I don’t have a record deal. So that may be what I do. I might do internet releases, and supplement my income with another job. I’m kind of, in a weird way, interested in making furniture (laughs).

Whut? I thought Dev was totally independant?

I think he means Inside Out....or maybe Sony Japan, or whatever other labels distribute his stuff.

Even then, it seems weird. He's in demand everywhere so surely another distro company would gladly help out..

Although in saying that Dev could make furniture on the side aswell. Make me that chair with the inbuilt toilet (Inbuilt headphone jack and 5.1 audio speakers depending on the mood) I've been dreaming about for years.

Thank you for that. :D

I wonder how sick he is getting of having to repeat himself over and over again.

Seems like it would get a little old, but it's part of the territory!

Thanks BrunoN - good article. After reading all these interviews, I'm happy for him that he kicked the weed and booze - I had no idea it was doing him so much harm :(

It'll do that to you. From my experiences, a lot of people who smoke weed get incredibly irritable fairly easily.
