Thanks for all the support over the past few months, it's been great talking to you all.

I start the record again today. I think this record is beautiful. I am going to sell a shitload of gear soon (next month) so I'll tell you when there's a list (not to buy, we're all broke) but maybe to tell you rich uncle about. :) I'm also getting rid of some cheap stuff too though...pedals, tshirst, posters etc.

Namm was brutal. We were snowed in here in Vancouver and had a total of 3 rehearsals for the show. I met tons of folks from my past that very obviously didn't want me in the 'club' anymore. It was 2 days that felt like a week. Fucking punishing.

The show was not the best thing I've done, nor did it represent the tunes super well. While I was on stage all I could think was 'my god...I'm a dad. What the hell am I doing up here?'

Strangely, I feel really really strong and really good. I have come back with much fewer questions than when I left. Peavey are brilliant folks as well. Love those guys.

Ki is a great record, LA still sucks, it was the first time I hung out in a weed filled hotel room in 3 years, listening to guys with perms loudly talk of their achievements so dumb girls in gstrings could overhear so they could mate in the shitter later.

I ran into Gene and his friends but I was unfortuantely kind of upset and I think they probably thought I blew them off. Lots of situations like that actually. I seem to have forgotten how to relate.

Good to be home, I have an immense amount of bills to pay in the next 3 weeks, so back at it!

Hey Dev. Thanks for your post, man. It's really interesting to hear about things like NAMM from your perspective. The event (and the industry in general) is obviously fraught with total bullshit, and it's really good to hear from someone who is able to see it for what it is. If I were you, events like these would make me quite happy to be something of a lone wolf. I'm sure that you'll resent the comparison, but more and more, I see you as something similar to what Woody Allen is to the film industry. I see both Hollywood and the music industry increasingly collapsing upon themselves in vortexes of derivative bullshit, while you lone wolves make the art that you want to make. Fuck everything else.

Heh Dev!

Any Idea when Peavey will release details of the guitars. In the mood to shop for a guitar at the moment and I am seriously considering a PRS of some description but can be really be moved either way at the moment.

I find this whole NAMM experience of yours really interesting although, not surprising.

I haven't been going through the same life changing "having a kid" experience you have so I can only relate to a certain extent.

But I think I get it. I feel the same way with my own "metal" friends back home. I've moved to London for work and I see them maybe twice a year.
Every single time I go back, I'm struck by how little anything has changed on their side, and how much I'm changing myself.
I just don't feel like taking their "Uh! Metal Up Your Ass!" bullshit anymore. I don't need it.

Just keep at it, do what you do best and don't worry too much.
People come and go. The ones who care or matter always stick around anyway.

Ok, enough with my preaching bullshit.

Good Day!

Hey Devin, thumbs up for your honesty, man :) What you just wrote there about the NAMM experience was much more from the heart than you could expect from any "rockstar" .
Although, as a fan, I hope that you get the feeling for playing live again. Maybe under less capitalistic circumstances, with less media /career bullshit, but it's always been a great pleasure to see you perform your stuff. You know, you're very good at that ;D
Anyway, it's cool to know you're on your way again, Ki can only turn out great (in its own way). Thanks for everything, cool that you're there :)

Devin, amongst the objects you are thinking of selling, will you be selling any of those cool guitar picks with the SYL logo on them or the other ones you showed on the ziltoid video? I want some:P

Whether it's coincidence or not, I use the big triangle shaped dunlop tortex .73mm picks and I hate the fact that they're yellow, so some black ones would be sick :)

That was what? 20 years ago? A lot can happen during that amount of time, positive and negative. Just because someone has matured and wants to spend time with family doesn't mean they have lost the drive to to whatever it is that they do. Things affect people differently. I would expect "Ki" to be just as good as anything he has ever done, and I would put money on it that he expects it to be as well. Just my opinion.

It's kinda like saying to someone whos 80, "You know, why don't you get up on stage and do go-go dancing again? Don't you remember those white heels you had?" :P

People change. You see different value in things once you gian experience. Like when I was 6, I thought the world revolved around pixie sticks. And now, it revolves around music. And in a few more years, ir oculd easily change to something else.

And about the rock star thing - He already is. Maybe not in the "conquer the entire world like Bono" sense, but certainly in the sense of having a stable fan base. Surely that's what it's about?

Maybe, I'm just thinking about this too much. :P
