You'll find 'Addicted' to have lots of Ocean Machine influence in it... mixed with some of his other past albums. Just my opinion though

As far as where he will go next after these 4 records... always hard to say with Dev BUT it will always be fucking awesome!!!! Again, my opinion....

Best,

RVP

Whoa. Welcome back Ryan!

I would get Ocean machine, Accelerated Evolution then Synchestra in that order. Get Addicted as soon as it comes out too. :)

Then you'll have all my favorites (including Ki, Ziltoid and Terria).

lol there are a lot of different opinions
the fact is: you should buy all of them, every single album is awesome and unique.
you also should check all from SYL!!!!!

I agree with the most of the opinions here, you should hear Ocean Machine, then Synchestra or Infinity

This is how i discovered Devin (chronologically)

Vai - Sex & Religion (as a little kid)
SYL - SYL (first stuff i had heard)
SYL - Alien
SYL - The New Black
SYL - Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing (re-issue)
SYL - City (both versions)
DTB - Synchestra (first solo stuff i heard (first track i ever heard was "Sunset" (on Pandora) and i was blown away))
Dev - Terria
DTB - Accelerated Evolution
Dev - Ocean Machine (first song i heard was Life (on Pandora))
Dev - DevLab (I recommend sleeping to (actually sleep to ALL OF THEM!!))
Dev - Infinity
Dev - Physicist (first song i heard was Kingdom (on Pandora))
Dev - The Hummer
Dev - Ziltoid
Dev - Christeen EP
Dev - Ass Sordid Demos (I & II)
Dev - Official Bootleg Video
Dev - Press CD
DTP - Ki

Ever since i heard the Vai record, i was hooked. I listen to Dev every day now, infact I'm listening to Trainfire right now.

After Synchestra, Ziltoid and Terria Infinity was the album, that shocked me. I can say this album has more wide spectrum of musical ideas than any other Devin's record. In my opinion, of course.
